With the likelihood of the Dems taking over one of the houses a more and more realistic possibility....the question arises, what should they do once back in the government.

They will have to make a tough choice....to hold Bush to what he has done as one of the more dictatorial presidents of all time, or strive to lay out a new path for the country, and work for a better America.

They have the ability to do both, and they should do both.

Impeaching Bush, while certainly a worthwhile conversation, is a worthless act at this point. Bush is lame duck. Just as it was to go after Clinton, it is a waste of taxpayer $ and a distraction of America.

When Congress tried to impeach Clinton, he faced military challenges going after OBL and the political climate basically made Clinton worthless. Wag the Dog. OBL lived and 9/11 happened.

I blame the idiot American voters that took W's rhetoric for face value ...such as the Swift Boat scandal.

If anything, we should impeach stupid voters. I blame them ...not Bush.

Lets focus on moving forward ...it'll be more productive.

I don't think they should go after Bush per se, but we should have some investigations that lay out the truth of things. Of course, that will be seen as going after Bush, but...

I don't think the Dems can retake either House or Senate unless they come up with their own "Contract With America" RIGHT NOW. Frankly, they should have created a unified platform at the beginning of 2006 and then repeated it ad naseum on the talk shows and press non-stop. Of course they didn't, which is why I think nothing will change.

If miracles do happen, I would rather them work on presenting alternatives to the Bush administration's demands. Bush may be a lame duck, but if the Democrats waste 2 years doing nothing but shooting down his ideas, then the GOP will once again be able to say that the Democrats stand for nothing but "anti-Bush." That will ensure another GOP victory in 2008. So they need to figure out exactly what they'd do differently, get all the other Dems in line and then scream it until we're all sick of hearing it.

If the Dems win one of the Houses, W will be anally explored. It is not the best thing for the country or their party, but they will not be able to restrain themselves. If the shoe was on the other foot, the Reps would do the same but with more vigor. Sad and pathetic for all parties.

Why? Is it worse than covering stuff up that Bush did? The magnitude of damage done to this country demands an accounting. Whether you can do that without specifically targeting Bush, I seriously doubt it, but the overwhelming concern should be for truth first.

I firmly beleive the truth is out there for all to see it. The problem is that many refuse to see it. Bush is a terrible president and anybody that votes for the Dems in '06 and '08 already agree with that statement.

Please create a new vision. Pretty please. Something clear. Something you'll actually stand behind. Something that I can actually say "yea" or "nay" to.

My preference is for a Democratic House of Congress to first do their primary job of oversight. W since 911 has been winging a "trust me" at Congress. For example, there have been zero meaningful policy discussions on Iraq. W has done whatever he has wanted. W not submitted anything but PR as his post war Iraq plan. No accountability.

My fear is that the Dems would spend the next two years concentrating only on doing political damage to W. Good for them, but bad for the rest of the country.

the only way the dems are taking back congress is if they create a new vision ala Newt's "Contract with America"... they're not going to get in with the opposition tactics as usual approach that they're trying now.

and, if they do come up with a new contract with america, its gotta be one that will entice americans from the right to actually buy in to it. meaning no new taxes, while balancing this out of proportion budget.

We all want to ROCK! but everyone knows the party don't start until MadMax is in the HOUZ! (Crude, ineffective attempt at hipness.)

National Security, terrorism, torture, wiretapping, economy, education... pick two.
