He is day to day even when he's playing. Should he subject himself to the rigors of the All-Star game?
rigors of the all-star game? the last time i checked the all-star game was an all-offense no defense game with little contact. i mean he should still be careful but i don't think we have anything to worry about
Yeah it's a chill game, I don't know why you guys worry about it. It's more fun than anything, plus no one is gonna try to play hard or rough on him either and if they do they have no character nor respect for the game.
"Rigors" of the ASG? Thanks for the sarcasm, AB. On a serious note though, he didn't look too excited about the selection, it seemed like he wanted Nash to take his spot or something...
i vote yes.. but i vote he talks to avery and tells him he can only play a little unless they really need him. And i vote he doesn't try to do somethin crazy that might even come close to making us talk about wondering if his back was tweaked at all
Of course he should play, it's an honor being on the all-star team, and he also will be the only one representing Houston, since Yao isn't playing.
I think the players actually try to display as much athleticism as possible during the ASG, moreso than in regular games. He is a twist or contort away from being out for the season, I'd rather him not take chances when it doesn't matter.
It's not like he has a choice. If you're healthy you play, and Stern doesn't fall for stupid excuses. People have been trying to skip it for years.
Regardless of what we think, he will obviously play; I think we tend to forget that these guys are in effect a multimillion dollar investment by corporate America and that they owe much of their financial wealth to that 'image' they built over their careers, or that was marketed for them. Maintaining that image is everything, and those companies that sponsor these guys (e.g. adidas, Nike, Pepsi, Coke, etc) will make damn sure that they keep their fans (i.e. the consumers) happy...in the case of McGrady, that means obliging with what the fans want.
No, and I wish people would stop voting for our players to be in it. It's a meaningless exhibition game.
He didn't do much dunking except when he had to (Kobe's lobs) at the ASG last year and still got 36 points. No signature off the backboard dunk last year from T-Mac because he was trying to play safe.
He has no choice. He has to play, unless he has a legitimate injury that would keep him from playing regular season games.
From a regular NBA fans point of view, McGrady plays, no doubt about it, he was voted in by the fans so they obviously wanted him to play, From a Rockets fans point of view, McGrady doesn't play, simple as that really because no Rox fans would want Tmac to risk injury in the game that could effect the games he plays for the Rockets. With that being said, I voted Yes because it's honor for players to play in the all star game, my question is, will Yao be considered an all star this year even though he was voted in but will not play?
as far as i remember- they have. i think last year someone missed it 'cause their coach didn't want them injured.
