I bring this up because earlier in the season after losses to Dallas and San Antonio our "star players" continue to run their mouths saying that these teams, "cannot beat us straight up" and that the rockets "beat themselves" instead of being gracious and admitting that they were beaten by what were obviously superior teams. Then in the next game against these teams the Rockets get their a$$e$ completly handed to them on a silver platter. Definately a case of a fool speaking before he thinks, but are these the types of "leaders" we should have on our team? With that said, shouldn't Rudy T make some effort to instill a trace of pride, grace, and dignity into these two ignorant ballplayers, or rather this young TEAM? It seems like the attitude illustrated in countless Steve and Cuttino quotes has become a cancer and has at least partially contributed to the poor and at times uninspired play of our Houston Rockets. I think someone, ANYONE must stand up and take charge of these young egos before it is too late. Not just for what little remains of this season, but in the next one to come. I sincerly hope that Rudy T can find it in him to change his "hands off" approach for a more stern and diciplinarian one because THAT is what is needed. If he cannot, or will not, I hope Les will step up to the plate and find someone who will. *Whew* glad to get that off my chest...as always my fellow bbs's thoughts are appreciated.
I have given up on our guards. Their trash talk is silly to hear. It sounds like they are complacent even they have yet to achieve anything, like bring your teams to playoff. Shaq is anoying when he talks trash, but at least he got the last 3 rings to back it up. Our guards talk trash with nothing to back them up. The only thing they are known for in the league is their silly guard-oriented offense and ballhog style of play, which makes regular sportscenter highlights. Of late even that is getting old, with Rockets fading away in the playoff picture fast...
i don't think they should make the comments b/c they do sound foolish but i don't see how you get complacency out of them. they are more hurt pride than anything else and projecting the belief they can play with anyone. besides, steve and cuttino aren't the people i worry about coming to play most nights. if anything, the teams they usually make these comments about are the good ones and they usually get up for the good teams. maybe they should make these comments about the bad teams and then the rockets would get more up for them. who knows. people should stop nitpicking so much. especially these quotes are a cancer?
