well its that time again, for me at least, should MJ call it quits? i think if he's comin off the bench, forget it, Michael Jordan can't come off the bench, that's Michael Jordan! but if he feels good and can start and play maybe 30-35 min a game and actually help the team, he should do it, he might have 1 more year in him.

If he feels like playing and he's allowed (see Hakeem), then he should. He's earned it.

Sure. That's at least one more year he'll be right here with me. It's all good. I don't see why he shouldn't play. He seems to have found a niche on the team. Why not. Basketball is fun. He should enjoy it until the day he dies. Clearly he loves competitive basketball. Play till you drop. Who needs to go out on their own terms anyway. That's just stupid. Sure it feels good to retire a champion, but not if your at home thinking about playing ball all the time. That's teribble. It's no fun. So go play. If you get hurt you get hurt. You went out enjoying yourself.

He's won every other award possible, so why not 6th man of the year? I believe Bill Walton is the only player to win an MVP award and 6th man of the year award...

What pisses me off is that he has to make it so dramatic. He wants to wait until the "last minute" before making a decision...BS! Dude is just trying to grab as much of the spotlight as he can before he fades away into obscurity again...

I'd love to see everyone in the NBA play until 40 or later. If there's nothing wrong with their games, why should they quit? What? They're only going to pay you a million to play basketball instead of 4? So you retire?

Too many NBA players, owners, and fans set limits on the players in terms of age and being starting calibur. It won't matter if Jordan plays until he's 50, people will always remember him when he was 35, winning a championship. It will never hurt his image. Likewise with most other players.

No one in this league plays 48 minutes a game anymore. Why? Most of the starters are fully capable of playing the whole game. Why does Shaq only average 40 minutes? He's better tired than Mark Madsen is on his best day, so why does Shaq ever go out? Again, these are self-imposed limits that shouldn't exist.

If a player loves to play and is able to, he should keep on going. Make those youngsters earn their spots. I hope Jordan, Stockton, and Malone play until they all die on the court (in the case of Stockton/Malone, hopefully not from a sniper's bullet).

That's true, but you have to consider that you would never have a energetic Shaq after the first quarter or so of games.

    I would take a well-rested Shaq for 3 quarters+Madsen/whoever over a Well-Rested Shaq for 1.5-2 quarters+a tired Shaq for 2-2.5 quarters.

I don't want a well-rested Shaq... I want an exhausted Shaq, a sore Shaq, a Shaq dizzy from trying to play the Rocks. A Shaq wondering who the hell that Chinese guy is who's harassing him mercilessly! ;)

I agree with both of u. Most ballers play 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and they can easily go all 48 minutes. It really depends on the conditioning and the effort. Older players that hit their peek seem to expend less energy by playing smarter. So I think most players could go all 48.

However, you do need to shake things up. Sometimes Mark Madsen's basket is 10x more inspiring to the team because eveybody knows he had to bust his hump to get 2. It can lift you up when your down. That's what bench players are supposed to do. I don't think it's about relief anymore. It's about providing some energy or saving fouls.

Does anybody really care about Jordan anymore? I personally don't care if he comes back or not.

His legacy won't be damaged, but it's sad to see Hakeem and Ewing doing so poorly.Jordan did pretty well last year, but he is much slower than before and I think he shouldn't come back.

As a Wizards fan, I don't think he is really helping the team very much by playing. They more than likely aren't going to make the playoffs with him, so all he's really doing is slowing down the younger players (and there's a bunch of 'em) development.
