No. This is why Kobe Bryant's lawyers are seeking. I'm just seeing what other people think about delaying the trial for good or ill.
I seriously doubt the lawyers are phrasing it that way. That may be the way the national audience/media perceives it. Nevertheless, Kobe should get ZERO star treatment here. As I undertand it, the trial will occur during the season.

The trial may happen next offseason even without a delay. Unless it looks like it's going to run into the playoffs, I don't know why it's such a big concern to postpone. It's not going to take more than a month at the most. At the original press conference, his lawyers specifically said they wouldn't try to postpone the trial and that the possibility of Kobe missing games was out of their control.
If they want a delay to prepare for his defense, sure. If they want a delay so he can finish the season, of course not.
Imagine being in Kobes shoes right now: If he did do it: His whole life is gone. And he can't tell one person about it. That has got to be knawing at him. Even if he gets off, he still has to lie every day for the rest of his life. If he didn't do it: His whole life is in the hands of a liar. The very same thing he is. And he still can't talk to anyone because he cheated on his wife. He's lost all respect from everyone. And his life is in the balance. That has got to be knawing at him. Kobe is screwed mentally. Which is what the nba is at this level. I have a hard time believing he will be the same player.
Yeah, it would suck. It would suck even worse if something were GNAWING at him. If I was in his shoes, I'd just want to get it over with, but perhaps his lawyers need more time to win the battle of public opinion.
Yeah, I'm sure he's really tortured inside considering his weekly trips to awards shows and Disneyland. I chuckled at, "He's lost all respect from everyone." Most non-Laker fans didn't respect him -before- this mess. Among other things, they didn't respect his goody-two-shoes image, his privileged upbringing, his mannerism theft of Jordan, his candid comments about driving opponents into the ground, his early success, his playing next to a superstar center, his adulation by the media, etc. I think Kobe can give a flip about respect from anyone other than his fans at this point in his career. Not that it matters as he's one of the most mentally tough players in the league. A more coddled star would've demanded a trade after the things that Shaq has pulled behind-the-scenes (including slapping him at one practice and berating him at team meetings as a selfish loner).
