We all seem to agree that we have made some great roster moves this year. Obviously CD finalized the deals but to whom do you give the most credit Dawson or VanGundy?

Some of the moves (Ward, Weatherspoon) seem to obviously have the JVG stamp on them others it's hard to tell.

When it comes down to it, the GM has to make things happen. The coach can readily give input as far as "I want this guy, I need this sort of player," but the GM has to make the moves. Dawson has been pretty impressive with closing deals.

I'm getting the impression they both scout talent, the only difference is JVG picks players he feels he can coach and will be effective in the system he runs. CD, of course, will do the nitty gritty GM work of taking & placing the calls but you know JVG has a lot to do with it as well.

I think they deserve equal credit and should be commended for their moves this year, they have really shown that they are trying to put a winner out there.

Look at the average age of the team. Look at the average age of JVG's Knicks. Any questions?

So you're saying Van Gundy deserves credit for the roster moves?

I think JVG has a lot to say about what players we target and which players are expendable (or we'd like to be rid of), but what we pay for what we get marks the difference between a good deal and a bad one. Getting Norris and Baker and a second round pick for Mo Taylor is better than getting Norris and Baker for Taylor and a first round pick. Van Gundy doesn't do those negotiations.
