I'v been reading through peoples posts & it seems to me the board is split on this subject. I just wanted to see a number of people who acctuly want him to stay or go. Explain please & be sure to include who you think should replace him as well...

I think he should stay for the rest of the year BUT if the results arnt there id have to pull the trigger and bring in another coach. Who? Now thats the question....

He deserves a lot of criticism, but doesn’t deserve to be fired just quite yet.

He earned the entire season. The day after the Rockets fail to make the playoffs (or lose in the playoffs), his situation should be reevaluated.

no..come on...you don't fire a coach this early in a season unless he's winless. if you were gonna fire him this quickly, you would have fired him in the offseason.

i don't think van gundy is the problem right now.

Make this poll after a win, and you will get a different result.

    Bunch of flip floppers.

I agree. We can't let JVG go at this point. It's too early. Rox is a young team with many new players. Last thing we need is to change coach now. Although JVG is not much of a problem now, I truly think he will snap, and cost us champaignship. His style of coaching, his style of motivating players, his limited offensive schemes will become a liability. He might take us far into playoffs, or he might even take us to the finals, but He won't bring us the rings because his weaknesses.

Plus, don't u guys think JVG is just too stubborn sometimes. He just doesnt' bend his rules a bit to give his players more freedom. He just doesnt' change his coaching style a bit to make it better. He always sticks to what he has and what he's known. He just doesnt' seem like a guy who is good at adapting to new rules, new environments. I hope I'm wrong, but I know I'm right. At least, he didn't prove me wrong when he was in NYC.

No legit coach gets canned midway into a season. Even Bzdelik will not get canned until after the season. However, it would be foolish for the Rockets not to entertain pursuing Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson is in the woods of Montana. He's getting his batteries recharged. The fact that he is contacting teams he is interested in means he wants to coach again.

Yeah, I too thought this was a plea for Torraye Braggs return.

Torraye? Torraye? Wherefore art thou, Torraye?

I totally agree with this. Give him a little bit more time to show him what he's made of.

This madness of wanting to fire JVG occured after really just 1 game. So far I do not like the way JVG is running the offense. I do not like the way are are not ripping down the rebounds. I do not like it when he benches both Yao and Tmac always late in the 1st quarter at teh same time. I do not like it when we slow the tempo up too much, or not give it to the hot hand more, etc. BUT you've got to show some patience 9 frickn games into his second season full of new faces. We'll be a scary team once we start to gel.

Even if we win 50 games and get to the second round, Van Grumpy should still be replaced if a better offensive coach is available. Yao, T-Mac and the Toyota Center deserve a lot better coach, a championship level coach.

I never liked VG and wanted Larry Brown when we had the chance.

Things I don't like about VG, inept offensively. Defensively he's pretty well versed.

But VG isn't a basketball guy like Larry Brown but so much a tolitarian disciplinist who doesn't mold to his team's strengths, but rather makes his team fit his gameplan.

Yes, JVG should get the tank. He already has the rocket launcher and he only needs a few more kills to win team slayer. If he gets in the scorpion this thing should be over really quick.

IF we make the playoffs i might think different but i just don't like the way he uses the bench and can't develop players....we are going to have our young players ride the bench and never develop.
