So as I've said I'm flying into Houston on Wednesday the 19th for a business trip. It's actually the first time I've been in Houston since my grandfather's funeral in February of last year. It's the season finale for the Rockets against the Spurs, so that sounds like an awesome game to catch. On the other hand, without McGrady out and with the Spurs' spot secure, I wonder if I should catch the Astros instead. 'Course, the Astros are playing the Brewers (booooo!), so I'm leaning towards Rockets. Thoughts?
Definetly an Astros game. They are MUCH more fun to be at than Rockets games. Most of the time Rockets games feel like highschool games. The Astros have really caught Houston's heart, and so many fans are turning out to the games and they are much more roudy and IMO, entertaining. I love the Rockets, and really wanted to see them play. But when I watched my last game it was almost boring. That was before their "Rocket Rowdies". Also, the Rockets aren't going anywhere this season but to the lottery. You'll have more fun at an Astros game where there is still a lot of hype. If you go to the season finale, I can pretty much gurrantee you the amount of fans and excitement in the stands will be almost none. Go to MMP and feel the electricity in the atmosphere. I'm going in a couple of weeks, I can't wait.
You should instead go watch a team with a track record of great success. A team that has won championships in their recent history. A team of champions. And that team would be the Houston Dynamo. They play Real Salt Lake at home around the time you are here.
You should definitely check out an Astros game. In fact, they just started a new promotion. If the Astros score a run, everybody in attendance gets a free Big Mac...
It pains me to say it, but.... Astros game. Except for the Rocket Rowdies, the TC is like a morgue compared to MMP. It kills me to say that because I love the Rockets more than the Astros, but it's the truth.
Yeah but watching Yao more than makes up for that, especially if you don't live here and don't have many opportunities to see a true Superstar.
LOL. As if the Astros will ever really win anything. Rockets playing for lotto spot >>>> Drayton playing with Astros fans' hearts
that one was a bit much! it caught me off-guard a bit. in a league where more teams make the playoffs than not, the rockets have struggled to get to the first round since 1999. in a league where the regular season titles mean more and only a quarter of the teams make it to the playoffs, the astros have been 6 times in the past 9 years. they're not even a year removed from a national league championship. they enjoyed incredible storybook seasons the last couple of years. yeah...i guess i'm not surprised given what i've read here before...and given it's a largely a basketball forum. but, still. wow.
And how many world titles do they have? I'm sorry, if someone's going to crack on the Rockets about being a lottery team I'm not going to let slide that the Astros' biggest scoreboard everyone is so proud of is a world series APPEARANCE.
The Rockets got the finals over a decade ago and every year they are fighting like hell to not be in the lottery. At least the Astros have a chance to do something and actually put out a team that has the chance to win it all. The Rockets have not been watchable for YEARS.
