Choke implies that they were winning or were favored to win and blew it The Texans are the only team that falls under that category. The Astros and Dynamo are in rebuilding mode, so choking is not possible The Rockets are overachieving if anything Teams with no talent does not equal choking, it just means the teams are not very good The only team that is not performing to expectations and routinely blowing games are the Texans
that would be like history relinquishing the renaissance period. Those championship years were a cultural movement for our glorious city.
I've never applied "clutch city" to any other team but the Rockets....and that's not going to go away...
When you have a game in the bag and then things suddenly start to fall apart, and the other team makes a comeback that is talked about for the entire day that is choking. That is why people always talk about are young teams experienced enough to close games? What they mean is can the team avoid enough mistakes to finish and close games.
Never... One of them I remember exactly where I was(in the bar), what I was doing(on the cell in disbelief) when we won those championships....
To be fair, I blame Lyons much more then the Stros for that ninth inning. It wasn't like the fielders made an error or made a bad judgement play. Pretty much every hit was clean and gave the Stros no chance to make any kind of play. You want to say Lyons choked, fine but I don't consider that masterpiece of a ninth a team wide choke job.
That would be like Athens relinquishing its title as the birthplace of democracy even though for most of the history since then its been ruled by kings, emperors and military strong men.
For much of the 70s and 80s the Packers were a bad joke with no punch line. But Green Bay was and always will be Titletown. This is Clutch City. Never underestimate the heart of a champion. "Un-beat-able." Kiss of death.
