We all know Hakeem plays old now. moves old, and is just plain old. His stats are underwhelming if very unimpressive and seems to always be injured. I met Hakeem personally. I have a glorious autograph of him and have framed it, but he is almost becoming an embarassment by putting out so little of what he once did. Why Hakeem, Why? Please tell me it's not for "the love of the game". Does he really think the team can make a championship run? I don't think so. I hope so. but I bet not. Now I know some might say younger, more productive players get injured, but he has now made a 3 year run at being hurt. As much love and respect I have, I can't see it no more.

He is now Willie Mays stumbling in the outfield, Ali getting beat half to death by Holmes, Aikman getting concussion after concussion. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!! STOP Hakeem.

Before it used to be a big deal for a shorter guy to dunk on Hakeem. It WAS a BIG DEAL!!! Remember KJ? that was unspeakable to do that....now I could probably dunk on Hakeem...It hurts. Hakeem truly is a shell of his former self. He is now bantha fodder. I love you Hakeem, but the best thing to do is to just stop it.

walk away, don't come back, hold your head high...and declare your standards. For your standards have set you apart, but no more. I tried to ignore the travesty, but I can't bear to watch this...

I want my autograph to have real meaning while there is still time...

Olajuwon would disagree. He would tell you he's in his prime and never felt better. Now that the Rockets aren't holding him down.

Hakeem should do what he feels best for him. If he wants to play, and a team wants him to play for them, then by all means play. And, oh by the way, it's hogwash to believe that superstar hurts his reputation (sp?) by playing past his prime. His legacy is settled. If you don't like it, then don't watch.

Why is it hogwash to believe a former great player hurts his reputation by playing close to crap?
A player's legacy is what he does out there on the court from start to finish. Is Hakeem suppose to say: "O, my legacy is now settled from my first 10 years, now I can play another 4 or 5 years and not worry about the standards I once upheld". That is pure, unadulterated bunk!

    Hakeem wants to play. fine.

It is also fine if Hakeem thinks so little about his legacy, because Hakeem's legacy has not ended after his gloried years...it continues to the day he stops it, and walks away. This is so with every player.

Does Hakeem want to associated with such underwhelming, and inept play?

I thought the great ones held themselves to a higher standard.

I guess I was wrong in this case.

Obviously everyone don't share your opinion of his inept play. Otherwise, he'd have to retire. The fact remains teams want him and he wants to play. Again don't watch. You also mentioned ali. Was his legacy tarnished for boxing well past his prime?

He should've retired with dignity and respect as a Rocket...

I am glad he didn't retire a Rocket. This way we got some draft picks.
