I've always had arguments about McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell, BK, etc. being able to deliver food to businesses and homes kind of like Pizza and Chinese food. There's always counter-arguments about how a place like McDonalds being overloaded with delivery orders, but IMO I think they should at least try it for a bit to see how it goes. Once one place tries it, everyone else will follow if it's successful. Just wanted to see people's opinion on this though.
Hello, I would like a small order of french fries. I live on 505 E. 34th Street, Apt. 2A How long will that be? I'm kinda hungry.
They could do a minimum order requirement. Since I left my car in LA and didn't bring it up to SF with me, during finals when I am crunch for time, I use Eat24Hours to order food. They have everything from burgers to sushi to Indian. I'm sure fast food joints could do that. I mean, they have a Wendy's commercial every 20 minutes out here, but the closets Wendy's is like 10 miles away. Last year, I was carving Wendy's so bad because I kept seeing the commercials and I couldn't get out to the place to get some. I would have ordered lunch and dinner!
IIRC, when I visited my uncle in Phoenix about 15 years ago, there was a KFC by his house that delivered.
Why should they? It would cost more money/hassles than its worth. Not only do they have to have several drivers, but add in fuel costs as well. It doesn't make sense for a deliver guy who makes 7.00 an hour for a 30 min round trip delivery for a 6 dollar meal. You throw in fuel costs as well, and you really aren't netting all that much more.
For sure there's independent food delivery services that partner with select restaurants. Catered toward the busy professionals or for events. There's this service in Southern California, Restaurants on the Run http://www.rotr.com/restaurant.aspx?ZnID=37 But none of them really deal with the classic cheap fast food places. I'm thinking some foods arent "cuisine" enough for delivery. Some food wont stay heated, cool or prepared enough. Who wants cold fries and melted milkshakes? Makes sense for all the people in NYC who use public transportation.
Maybe if they considered selling quality food I would order from them. They could charge more, and make money for selling people actual food.
They deliver in parts of Asia... Micky D's, KFC... But that's a totally different situation. Fast food chains in some parts of the world is considered middle-upper class.
I'm currently in negotiation with McDonald's to open a mini-McD's in my spare bedroom. If all goes well, I'll never have to leave the house.
When I lived in Galveston, there was a company called Takeout Taxi that would deliver from anywhere for a 15% charge. They also had a minimum order requirement.
blah, reminds me of my days working at a mom and pops restaurant diliverying burgers for Burger Boy in College Station. Let's just say, I didn't work there very long. People don't tip when it's a burger.... My EMS job kicked that places ass anyways.
I delivered pizza once when I was a teen.. and by once I mean, once. Never did it again. I don't know how anyone can last doing that for more than a week.
Here in Colombia, you get deliveries for EVERYTHING. McDonalds, KFC, Escorts, Laundry Detergent, Liquor 24 Hours, Eggs, Illegal Drugs, Legal Drugs, Coffee, Bread.... you know the usual family household items.
