Don't worry fans, I'm not suggesting bringing back these NBA legends in uniform. I simply think Clyde Drexler could help tutor Mobley in becoming a more efficient shooting guard; in terms of shooting, decision-making, defense and passing.

The same is true for the legendary Oscar Robertson. At last year's all-star game, he was giving Steve Francis advice on how to properly involve his teammates, especially Yao Ming. Francis is the type of player who could average a triple-double IMHO.

SF3 certainly can play much smarter and efficiently than he has in the past. Hiring Oscar Robertson as as assistant or scout would help out the team tremendously. Or maybe Francis should seek out advice from the master point guard. Implementing what he learns, Francis could thusly develop into the complete player I believe he is capable of becoming.

    Thoughts?

    The question is:

Should Clyde "the Glide" Drexler and Oscar "O" Robertson be brought in as assistants for the Houston Rockets?

I don't know how well Clyde did for the cougars basketball team so I don't know if we'd want him as a full time assistant. I would love to see Oscar "O" work on both Francis and Mobley.

Clyde, as great as he was, never really struck me as the most cerebral player. I think Big O would make an incredible coah, but I doubt he would do it after so many years without coaching at all.

I like the idea of bringing in the Big O moreso than CDrex to work with all of our guards (specifically Steve). If our guys couldn't reach a more enlightened level of understanding the game though his thoughts and experiences, they simply never will. And actually he doesn't even have to be a coach to share what he has to offer. Just seek him out and talk with him. Or study film of him.

While you're at it, study film of John Stockton and Magic Johnson. These are all true orchestrators of the basketball court. They ran the team but could drop 30 on you in a heartbeat. They all found glory (and fame, Cuttino) with the success of their teams and their integral roles on those teams.

I'm not so sure about Clyde. Please don't get me wrong, I loved him when he brought us another title, but I'm not too sold on his coaching (see his tenure with UH). I'm not sure his heart would be totally in it, you know (this is not about underestimating the heart of a champion).

At this point I'd take Matt Maloney with his ugly ass jump pass to the post. At least he could get it in there.
