I don't think this is really important... if he really sucks, he will be cut before the start of the season, if he is good, then we keep him, we are not tied in to his salary...
Not sure he has a niche he can fill. He's caffeine free, diet Parsons lite. Garcia, Covington, and Harden can play the 3. And Covington shows much more promise imo
I am sure he is just there to fill the void. He needs to have a monster year to stay beyond that. I vote for staying for now but if we can trade him do that, Morey!
He's not athletic and his skills are far from extraordinary. Don't compare him to Parsons!!!!! It's a huge insult. Yes, a more interesting thread would be what to do with Greg Smith.
I'm pretty sure he will be on the team if he has a guaranteed salary. As well, the owner may overrule any decision to waive or trade Casspi since I think maybe he wanted an Israeli player on the team being raised Jewish himself.
Well seeing as how we haven't played one preseason game I don't see how anyone can have an opinion at this point...
I think Casspi has sides that will be very useful to the team down the road. He rebounds well, steals well, blocks shots, runs the floor well and he can shoot the 3-ball. His shooting can be inconsistent at times, which is his big minus. All together, he is easily worth his salary. He needs to clean his head of the Cleveland experience and he will start to perform.
In my opinion 11th-12th player on the team should be someone young and promising, not a veteran who is not good at any particular category. Guys who are little good at everything play in Euroleague. in NBA you need to be very good at everything or something, little good at things don't help.
If Morey decides he should be, then yes. I really like Covington as a player. Also, there is something about Reggie Williams 28 ppg in college that tells me if he is in the right situation, he can flourish.. So would like to keep him if possible as a back up sg
The coaches will make the appropriate decision. We only have to wait another few weeks and the answer will be obvious.
Casspi is a 25 year old, career 44% shooter on corner 3's. Rockets offense generates a lot of corner 3's.
