I thought it would be interesting to post the shot attempts per player this season for our team. Ron 14.1 Yao 13.3 Tracy 13 Rafer 10.6 Luis 9.1 Aaron 8.9 Von 6.8 Battier 6.6 Carl 6.0 Luther 4.9 Barry 3.1 And the offense seems to be going most to Ron Ron(but its close 3 way). My advice which is a no brainer how about letting the offense run through Yao MORE. 13.3 shots and he's shoting 53% from the field. They did have a great win against Boston. But he shot 10/13 come on now. And when it does go through him he gets other players wide open looks like AB and Wafer. Tracy's shooting is down from 20 to 13 Attempts. Reason why his scoring is down but his effort is at the lowest I have seen as well in the years I have watched him since being traded over. Anyways thought it was interesting to through out these stats. I love the Rockets buy league pass every year and have flown into Houston to watch them before 2007 playoffs bet Phoenix(courtside seats) and NO. It was very exciting. Grew up watching my main man and the reason I love Houston today Hakeem the Dream. Whats weird is I'm from KY. Anyways go Rockets lets get past the 1st Round this year huh guys.
At this point I dont mind the ball being in Tmacs hands to make plays but I don't know if he should be getting more shots.
If we played with the 90 rules, and illegal defense was still banned, Yao could average 25 shot attempts, or keep shooting til his arms tired. Unfortunately, with Yao a sandwich between midgets most of the time, how do you exactly plan to give him more attempts? He has terrible hands, can't roll fast enuf in a pick n roll, and can't hit an 18 footer with any consistancy. We've now had 3 coaches who were unable to do this. This is just part of life. Yao will be limited until A: he becomes more aggressive and bulldozers over people or B: rules are changed. Both, unfortunately, are unlikely.
Are you accounting for the shots on which players got fouled? They don't count as shot attempts officially, but they really should be.
solid use of your 3rd post in 6 years seriously.. count in FTA per game if you're gonna post stats like this
Yao attempts 10 free throws. He doesn't get a lot of 'And 1's so... give him 5 more attempts. Which would make him the leading shot attempts. And even if it is low... if you keep giving it to him, he gets less and less efficient. Evidence? Utah Game. Cleveland Game. It could have been that he choked in those two games, but it could have also been he had too many shots, and his fatigue wasn't great.
To the OP, I've said before, look at the touches not the attempt with yao. He touches the ball a lot, but don't shoot as much because he's not aggressive enough. When he wants to be aggressive and plays aggressive, he shoots more. when he decides he wants the other team to dicate his performance, he looks for a way out and decides to pass the ball out to 23'9 when he's 2 ft from the basket. Its all on Yao why he's not getting more shots. Watch the games, not the boxscore.
There's no doubt Yao needs more shots... thats a given and Rafer less but the rest looks good to me...maybe a few more for Mac so his mangina doesn't get too upset.
Every player with high FG% should take more shots. That include Yao, Scola, Carl. Not T-Mac. T-Mac should limit his shots to under 12.
