Apparently 4 teenagers tried to break into a house in San Marcos, where some college kids lived.

One of the college kids heard them, saw the teams had a gun and grabbed his gun himself and shot 3 of them, while the 4th ran away.

2 of the 16 year olds died, and one is in critical condition. The 4th ran away but came back to the scene and was arrested.

Anyone think the shooter will be charged? Seems like he was defending his property.

Either way, sad day for the teens parents and the young man who shot two people dead.

    Dang.......hard to read....

If it's true that a real gun or the "realistic" looking pellet gun was pointed at him, I don't see how he could be charged unelss there is more to this story than what is in this initial report.

Not saying the Teens deserved to die, but the homeowner shouldn't feel any guilt for shooting them.

The kids deserved it. They were attempting to rob the place.

I believe he did the right thing too, but there has to be some guilt when you kill someone.

I can't imagine killing anyone or anything....

They were 16 though. Its reasonable to assume at least 1 of those kids only came along because of peer pressure. No one should die for a mistake they made as a child. Not blaming the shooter though.

If I'm not being pointed at by a gun and I have a gun, I'd probably shoot someone in the leg and if they are holding some sort of knife or club, I'd shoot them in the shoulder. If I have a gun and am familiar with it, I know how to aim and shoot in non-vital areas that will still incapacitate someone without killing them. If they get shot in non-vital areas, they can live with the scar and discomfort for the rest of their life and will be a constant reminder.

oh, i'm sure he'll feel guilt whether he wants to or not. and the shooting might do some serious psychological damage. but it was either his life or the robbers'. i agree he did the right thing.

*Killing 2 cats with one stone!

*This is genius.....cheap efficient fuel, and getting rid of cats......

*Just put a little anti freeze into some cans of tuna, and watch how quickly your cat problem goes away

*Is it legal to shoot stray cats?

    Righhhhhttttttttt...

Those are actually taken way out of context my man...sometimes you say things in jest that people take for reality.

You know like poking a stick into a bed of ants.....

    I am a lover not a fighter.....

For most people, if your going to shoot someone, shoot to kill.....center body mass. Shooting a person would be hard enough as it is. Trying to aim for specific body parts depending on the situation would mostly likely result in getting yourself killed. Only someone that's very highly trained could pull it off.

It's pretty easy to say what you would do until you are in that situation. Logically speaking if someone breaks into my house I'm trying to take whoever is breaking in my house out.

and what if the 16 yr olds actually connected and killed the homeowner? just because theyre 16 doesnt excuse them from doing acts of violence.

correct me if im wrong, but if the 16 yr olds didnt die, could they file a lawsuit against the shooter?

If the intruders had an actual weapon on them they probably couldn't win a lawsuit. They may need to prove the owner had reason to believe that all the intruders possessed a weapon.

How so?! A bunch of losers break into my house brandishing fire arms and pointing them at me, and I shoot and injure or kill one or more, and I get sued for protecting myself and my property?

I certainly hope that is not true. Only a r****ded legal system worthy of our scorn can advocate such a position.

If somebody (or a group of somebodies) entered my home at night with guns, I would absolutely shoot them. I have a wife and a kid at home. I would spare nothing to protect them from harm.
    Period.

I agree, but don't think anyone needed to die. BUT, there shouldn't be any blame on the home owner.
