No, we shouldn't shoot for the 8th seed..one and done. We should be looking at the 6th spot, with Carmelo and Paul, the Nuggets and Hornets are only 3 games above us for the 6th and 7th spots. The Nuggets will lose Melo and the Hornets just aren't that great while we should be adding a center and, once T-Will gets going, another wing. Heck we are only 6.5 games out of home court although that might be a bit much.

With the current landscape of Houston sports, I will take the playoffs and will be there cheering my head off. Plus how cool would it be to face Dallas and knock them out of the first round. Just the look on Cuben's face would be priceless.
I think we're good enough to get to 5, provided we keep playing at the level we've been playing in December.
The Rockets have a realistic shot at getting to 6th seed. Denver could end up going south if they trade Carmelo for future picks.
We will play better than that level. We still have room to improve. Brooks will improve and become a great 6th man. T-Will will give us athleticism at the sf who can also sub in certain situations at the 2 and 4. Patrick is going to be better than Hill by season end and Hill will continue to improve. The vets will keep this team in every game. Morey will figure otu someway to get us one more player that can help us now without giving up to much. We will still go through some minor growing spurts as we add the new additions in to the rotation but come march we will be gelling. ANd we have already proved we can compete with the Spurs and LA. Dallas is the only team in the west that I am worried about because they matchup so well with us. The Celtics in the east as well. But when it is all said and done everybody else including the heat if we play our best we will be able to compete with.

Im as excited about the possibilities as anyone...but take a look at our january schedule. We'll be lucky to have the 8th spot come February.
Only thing i'm worried about is injuries remember last year? Rockets were like 20-12 or something by New Years then cause of injuries the season went downhill. If we can avoid that we should make the playoffs.
