OK on nba fastbreak, they said Rasheed rejected the blazers offer on a contract extension for i think 4 years, 35 million (may have been 40 million). no big surprise.

then they said the knicks are interested in him. no big surprise.

then they listed the possible packages the knicks would send. big surprise. at least to me.

stephen a. smith may know nothing and these may be false but the two packages he listed were:

    shandon andersn (wtf!)
    kurt thomas
othella harrington (they actually listed al harrington but i've used my deep knowledge of the nba to realize he plays many miles away in indiana)

    or

    keith van horn (wtf!)
    shandn andersn (wtf!)

am i alone in thinking these are horrible deals (esp #2) for portland, considering what they've said they want.

the first isn't horrible b/c kurt thomas is good and he and othella's relatively low contracts end in two years (and kt can opt out after this year). of course shandn has a horrendous contract that goes for 3 years beyond this.

in the second, you have kvh with a monster contract for 3 more years, and shandn with a monster contract for 3 more years, and neither is even close to worth it. portland seems to have said they'd just let sheed walk for the cap room if need be. why screw yourself cap wise for 3 years for kvh and shandn andersn.

i've thought some deal with mo t and the TE or cato and the TE (with necessary throw ins) had no chance but how are they any worse than those deals? mo goes for 3 more years and is a pf like randolph but the TE helps and cato is done in 2 years.

so anyone think portland should be able to squeeze more out of a team than kvh and shandn? i'd actually be pissed if those moves went through b/c they would make isiah look good.

Shandon Anderson has to be the single most overpaid guy in sports history. Sure there have been alot of other guys who got overpaid. But in the NBA its most big tall centers that get more then they deserve. Big guys are at a premium and some teams are desperate enough to take a gamble.

Shandon freakin Anderson on the other hand is a total scrub. He can't shoot or pass. His defense is immensely overrated. All he can do is run. 42 mill for his scrubi ass!!!! Damn it! My parents suck! If only they gave me some better genes to be a 6'5 scruby basketball player!

Surely Cato and Maurice are more enticing then Keith Chump Horn and Shandon No Shot Anderson.

I just don't see Isiah getting Nash/Patterson to do that deal, even if he has pictures!

No, the worst signing in the history of Sports History was when the Sonics signed Jim McIlvaine for something like 40 million dollars.

Knicks lose out on Rasheed. No way Atlanta takes on any of NY's bad contracts, either now or after the season. Rasheed will only end up in NY if he agrees to play for the MCE, which is not going to happen.

Armed with the trade exception, Rasheed will be there for the taking for the Rockets in the offseason in a sign and trade.

That deal looks a lot better than Orlando's signing of Grant Hill. At least McIlvaine got out on the court.
