All right. After Alexander's breakout game, I'm thinking of trading him (we start 2 RBs plus an option for a flex RB/WR). His schedule stays difficult throughout the year, and I've still got LaDainian Tomlinson and Eddie George (plus T.J. Duckett and Michael Bennett on the bench). I desperately need another WR, so I'm thinking of offering him to another owner for a RB/WR package. One particular owner would make for a good trading partner. He has lots of viable WRs and could probably use another standout RB (although he DOES have Holmes and A Train). I'm thinking of asking for Anthony Thomas and one of his receivers (and I'll throw in someone like Ed McCaffrey if he really insists). Which receiver will put up better numbers this year, Kevin Johnson, Jimmy Smith, Tim Brown, or Donald Driver? Past numbers would indicate Jimmy Smith is the man, but I'm kind of leaning towards Tim Brown. Would he even accept a Shaun Alexander/McCaffrey for A Train/Tim Brown trade? Am I completely nuts? Should I make the offer?
I'm not sure if A-Train will duplicate his numbers from last year, so I'd either get a better RB in that deal, or go for a much better WR. Something like... Holmes and K.Johnson/J.Smith, or ATrain and T.Owens/R.Smith type of WR. Tomlinson is looking good, but I don't know about E.George so far. It's always good to have 3 starting caliber RB's,
Thomas & Brown for Alexander would be a good deal. A-Train has a very favorable remaining schedule and Brown has always been a stud. I'd have to see your before and after lineups to make a final decision, though.
I would trade Eddie George before I traded Alexander. Alexander and Tomlinson would give you a great backfield and adding A-Train would be like gravy, IMO.
I think the trade you proposed is fair. I would try to get Jimmy over Brown first though. Shaun had one great game, otherwise he's been dogging it. A-train has just as much of a chance to break out for the rest of the season as Shaun does.
I've found no takers for George, though, and I believe I can get a good WR and a good RB for Alexander (whereas I could only get a good WR for George without getting an RB in return, too). fadeaway - Here's my lineup: (2) QB: S. McNair, B. Griese, J. Miller (2+RB/WR flex) RB: S. Alexander, L. Tomlinson, E. George, T.J. Duckett, M. Bennett (3+WR/RB flex) WR: D. Boston, C. Chambers, E. McCaffrey, A. Davis, A. Bryant (1) TE: F. Jones, A. Crumpler (2) K: A. Vinatieri, J. Nedney (2) DEF: Miami, San Francisco RB is my definite strength, as is QB (possibly). I need one more good WR to really complete my roster. Other areas of concern are TE and QB. I got an offer of Corey Dillon and Peerless Price for Tomlinson today, and I just might take that offer (although LT has been my most consistent player). Suggestions?
Starters pre-trade: QB: S. McNair RB: Shaun Alexander, LaDainian Tomlinson WR: David Boston, Chris Chambers, Ed McCaffery Flex: Eddie George Starters post-trade: QB: S. McNair RB: LaDainian Tomlinson, Anthony Thomas WR: David Boston, Chris Chambers, Tim Brown Flex: Eddie George I like that second lineup a heck of a lot better. The upgrade from McCaffery to Brown is greater than the dropoff from Alexander to Thomas, so you win. The Dillon trade is nice, too. QB: S. McNair RB: LaDainian Tomlinson, Corey Dillon WR: David Boston, Chris Chambers, Peerless Price Flex: Eddie George I think I like the Thomas/Brown lineup best of all, though. Whatever you do, you absolutely must get McCaffery out of the lineup. He blows.
