Isn't Vancouver the place that Hakeem wants to move too?

I dont think Vancouver has anyone that they can match Hakeem's salary with.

Where did you hear he wanted out of Vancouver? That'd be awesome, but he's their star and according to NBC's stories he likes it there a lot. Hope I'm wrong, can you imagine him in our lineup?

Hakeem hates the cold and would never live in an igloo.

Hakeem said several years ago that he could see himself finishing his career in Vancouver because he loves it there. I think he stays there in the summer sometimes.

That was a while back, though. While he has since decided that he will not play for another team, I'm sure he still stays in his "igloo" sometimes.

Do they make igloos big enuff for Hakeem?

Maybe ThaFella convinced Shareef to help Harrington give the Rockets that long awaited enema.

Adbur-Rahim would be an awesume addition, I think ya'll are underestimating how good he is because he happens to play in the save division that KG does. I would easily part with Cato or KT or SA + Walt + this years #1 for him. Think of it this way, he is almost a great player at 23. If he were being drafted this year I have little doubt he would be the first pick. It would certainly come down to him and Kenyon as 1-2, I think Martin may be already older too.

Abdur-Rahim wants out IF Stu Jackson is out.

    I would offer:

    '00 First Round Pick
    Cuttino Mobley
    Carlos Rogers
    Bryce Drew
    Walt Williams

    We get:
    Abdur-Rahim

The only problem is they would want Cato, I believe. They don't need Mobley since they have Dickerson. Maybe we could add Cato, subtract Mobley, and somehow get Harrington back as well. Then maybe we could shop Mobley for a quality big man.

We wouldn't have a true center after Dream (but would we really need one? Pig has done an able job starting for us), but we'd have this starting lineup for next year.

    PG-Francis
    SG-Anderson
    SF-Abdur-Rahim
    PF-Harrington
    C-Dream

    Not too bad.

r95, I think Raheem is pretty darn good too, but I dont want to have to hold open tryouts for walk ins to replace the Rocks bench, and what would we do for center after Hakeem retires? We would end up like the Pistons, with NO inside game. Then no more rudy! Um, wait a sec..............

That would be a one year only pipe dream and Dream can't handle too many minutes at this stage in his career.

Trade for a quality big man?
Name one available because Detroit, among other teams, is listening.

The Griz would probably make the deal if a contingency was made to take Big Country off their hands the following year when Dream retires.

Just an aside. Vancouver is not a cold climate town. It is just a little over an hour's drive from Seattle and has very similiar weather patterns. There are mountains close by with ski slopes, but the city is right on the coast. You can golf year-round.

I doubt we have anyone good enough to entice Vancouver into a trade. Even without Francis' history with Vancouver, as Grizzlie GM I wouldn't swap the two. I don't think piling on potential stars and role-players would be enough to pry Rahim from them. Even with pressure to trade, they can probably get a better deal elsewhere.

Rocketman95, I concurr with your ideas, except I want to keep Mobley. He is an invauable third guard for us who as you say is less valuable to the Gizzards. We don't want just to trade Mobley to trade him, we only do so if he is instrumental to adding a superior front line player to the mix.

Ignoring salary for the moment, Drew, Cato, Los or Walt + our best pick might do it. Cato would be the hardest to replace, but he really makes a lot of sense for them. I would rather not lose Mobley--plus it is not like he really fits the Gizz real well because they have young solid "traditional" guards in Bibby and MD. Mobley is more effective for us because SA can play the 3 some and Mobley can get more minutes. Drew could be an adequate back-up for them at the point & 2 guard for many years.

Maybe this is good for Houston and Dream. He said he's thought about Vancouver. I say let's test his past statements. Of course I would say a word to him unless there was a chance in hell of this deal coming true, but I'll be reading everything to see if there's merit to the rumor!

Aren't we forgetting that Mobley is a free agent this summer? That means we cannot trade him, so take him out of any equation.

Sharif Abdur-Rahim is a great player. He is also only 23 years old. If Rahim were put on the market, I'm sure every team in the NBA would put together every last player they had to land him. Add that to the fact that our most valuable peice of trade bait (Mobley) can't be traded, and I would say it's pretty safe to say we won't have Abdur Rahim.

My guess is that in any Abdur-Rahim trade, 2 things would have to happen:

    A) The other team would have to take on Big Country as well. (If they are forced to deal Rahim, they might as well try and make a positive out of it, right?)

    B) The deal would take every last role player, potential All-Star, and draft pick the other team had.

This isn't like the Barkley/Penny/Drexler/Rice trades which we have witnessed over the past few years, where an aging superstar was dealt. This is also not like the McDyess/Francis/Stackhouse/Hughes trades where a relatively unproven player with great potential was traded. This is a 23 year old franchise player, we are talking about here.

To get talks started, my guess would probably be something like:

Cato+LottoPick+Thomas+Rogers+Drew+Walt(to even things out with BigCountry's salary) => Rahim + FatAssCountry

Offer that, and then maybe we're talking. That deal is a little too rich for my blood, especially since you have to take on BC's contract in the deal.

Mobley being a free agent does not mean he is not tradeable. If Mobley doesn't want to play in Vancouver (bad enough to forsake his Bird rights and money) of course we can't make him. But a sign and trade is completely possible (and considering this trade and the Francis trade, everyone Mobley ever played with except Francis would be in Vancouver, so why not?). However, all the stuff you said about how Vancouver won't be giving us Rahim I totally agree with.

The Rumbling are that he wants our of Vancouver.

    Walt + Drew + K.T. + pick
    for
    O.Harrington + Abdur

    Would ya do it?

If we could sub someone for K.T. I'd be in this deal. Maybe 'Los or Bullard

you know how Vancouver loves Trading with us
