I have to take my hat off for this guy. he was always a personal favorite of mine, but I just admire the fact that he is still playing great and being productive and dominant on the basketball court at this age.. you gotta love his effort and his heart out there.. in 34 minutes tonight against Ming, he scored 26 points on 10-12 shooting along with 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. he absolutely dominated the paint and made a statement that he is still the best center in the league. so Dwight Howard and Yao Ming, you gotta wait until the Diesel is retired to run for "best center in the league".. as long as the big guy has a jersey on, he will be #1 ...
Shaq has played like crap except for this one game. Everything he did today was a season high. And oooh i think im sooo cool because i can roll my eyes.
You're starting to create a monopoly on moronic posts. Shaq isn't the best center in the league. All this game showed was that Yao is still a pussjob, but we didn't really need any further proof for that.
hes second best center in league today next to howard. shaq is lazy but he proved again when he wants to play hes better than most guys in the league.
wtf, are teams better or is our defense worse? Or do other teams just hate the Rockets? I think it's our defense and our schedule just sux.
Our defense is non-existent the last 5 games. I really mis-Gundy right about now. I never thought the coach made that much of a difference, outside of Phil Jackson, but damn! The Rockets are just playing like **** out on the court. We should have kept JVG one more year until Jackson left LA and picked up the triangle!
There is no doubt Shaq has had an incredible career, and he played great tonight. But playing great 10% of the time doesn't make you the best center in the league. If Eric Dampier goes off one night I don't make him king of the world.
Thanks Kenny Smith for using this RocketsMac alias, else people will just hate you. Yao needs to be better on the boards if we are to do anything this year.
I watched that game tonight and one thought crossed my mind: This is the last dominant game we will get from Shaq.
lazy, oft-injured, inconsistency has been prevalent in the last few years of his career Not the best center in the league by any means. Still has the skill to be the best one on a few occasions. Just like Vince is the best 2 guard on some nights. Ben Wallace is still the defensive player of the year on some nights. Eddy Curry is an All Star C on some nights. You get the picture. Poor choice of words...and I don't think he's too old to be productive. But yeah, he's had a great career..
I guess Donyell Marshall is the best 3-point shooter in the world (In a March 13, 2005 game against the Philadelphia 76ers, he tied Kobe Bryant's NBA record for three-point field goals made in one game, when he hit 12 of 19 attempts) by the way RocketsMac how come u never reply to my posts in the trade Yao thread in GARM?
The real point make here is... Look at Shaq's demeanor, his attitude, his play. The passion isn't their. Its sad. His wife definitely took a piece of him. Favre found his place and is playing so well. Shaq has the same capability. But the pain is clearly holding him back. Mentally he isn't their. He isn't the competitor he once was. PS- Its 4am. Clearly I am drunk. So let me edit whatever I wrote tomorrow and don't noose me up yet. Family=drinky drinky
games like this really hurts yao's case for the best center. it puts doubts in people's minds. when was last time the best center arguably or inarguably in the league was dominated by some 35-year-old?
When a young Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was dominated for an entire playoff series by a 35-year old Wilt Chamberlain? I'm sure I could find many other examples. That's just the most prominent one I can think of. Shaq showed me tonight that if he is motivated, he can still bring it, and when he brings it, there is still no one who can stop him. The problem with Shaq is he has not been motivated much recently, but going up against Yao brought out his best.
