Cuttino said on the interview with JIm Rome that Shaq's dad had spoken with Yao about something. What could they have possibly talked about? Maybe his dad had to do the dirty work for Shaw and apologize for his son's dumb words.

Maybe Shaq's father just wanted to talk to Yao and see what he is all about. It's not like Shaq can avoid Yao, he plays him tonight, I'm guessing Shaq will apologize. You can say a lot of things about Shaq but he comes across to me as a good guy. Maybe a little high strung or emotional, but a good guy. I'm pretty sure he'll apologize.

I hope Shaq makes a nice gesture that will add to the healing and everyone can go back to focusing on B-Ball. At this point, the ball is on Shaq's court and his conduct will determine the way he is percieved by alot of people in the future. It would be great if he reached out to Yao in true friendship and set an example for all his fans.

He turned around and made kung fu moves after he finished the apology.

    That's pretty wack.

Maybe, but I do think that this incident has been blown way out of proportion.

I just hope that in the future a White idiot prankster say something insensitive, the Jessie Jackson's of the world will behave like Yao.

The Tony Bruno thing was popular in bulletin boards, but the media didn't want to pick this up until the week before gameday.

Maybe its because board members have heard this for many weeks now, but this is a new topic to many people outside the net.

You can blame the media for that, but Shaq isn't helping himself here.

Look. Shaq's comments were stupid and ignorant. Perhaps they were racist, perhaps not.

The point is that his "apology" was nothing of the sort. He said I'm sorry if I offended anyone. An apology would be "I'm sorry that I offended people". It is clear that he did offend, and he should apologize for it.

Let's put it another way. Can we honestly say that people are crazy for being put off or offended by the comment? No, it's not crazy.

People have been attacked by the public for words that are far more innocent than Shaq's. He needs to apologize for it and get it over with. It is a responsibility.

    I agree it's a lameass apology.

To me Shaq wants to show the world that he is sooooo good that he apologized even though he doesn't think he is wrong.

    1. Shaq said that "ching chong wah ah so" is an old joke.
He is not the first one to do it, so why are people angry?

    2. This is just Tang's opinion, and Tang does not have humor
as high as Shaq. However, since Shaq is sooooo good, he will
not want to go blast Tang.

    3. Making another kung fu move just cancels out all his apology.
Especially in the U.S., people associate Kung Fu to Chinese.
Look at all Chinese movies coming to the U.S. theathre, all of
them is kung fu movies. This is already a Chinese stereotype
    from the American's eyes.

Oh well.... any thread can become a potentially Shaq is racist thread. :)

IMO, it's a joke that a black athlete can just apologize but a white athlete must be "penalized". Whatever.

So next time I say something like "Ching Chang, Ni****", I hope those 30% who don't have any sense of humor can get with the program. :( After all, every idiot prankster, even a white one, should get the Shaq escape clause.

It's not fair. It's a double standard. Get over it. I (as a black man) can say whitey or honkey with little or no repercussions but if you say darkey or n!gg*r you'll be blasted. This country's history has made it that way. But still you are the vast majority in this country and majority rules correct? Everything can't balance in your favor. Be happy with all of the perks that you get just for being you.
