He really forgot that they played the Pacers (not the Bulls) in the ECF that year... and, in fact, the Rockets were in the finals first (waiting on the Magic/Pacers winner).

Thus, it was the Rockets who were "rustier".

He was joking. I don't think it's even possible to have 17 days of rest in the playoffs. He knows he got swept.

 

Yeah, Shaq's Magic sure looked rusty when they were up 20 in the first half of Game 1.

 

I swear that guy just tries to find every excuse in the book. Face it man, you and your squad got outworked by a better team. Simple as that.

 

Shaq must be looking for things to say IMO about that 1995 NBA Championship Series as to what went wrong with his team. When he says that "We were rusty", I'm sure he must be talking about Nick Anderson, if anyone since he was the one to miss the four free throws in the last 10 seconds of regulation in that Game 1. Also, he goofed when he said that "We beat them 3 times that regular season." He should have said that since teams from opposite conferences met twice each season then (one home, one away) like it is now "We beat them both times that regular season."

 

I don't see why it wouldn't be. Lets say they had nothing but sweeps in the East that year, and the Rockets went 5/7/7 to make the finals. It would be very hard to do though, and probably never has.

 

His sarcasm levels must have been at full power because he had a straight face when saying that's why they lost game 1 to the rockets.

 

It must be nice for Kenny to wave that 1995 championship ring at Shaq and Chuck.
