I was just watching the Mavs summer league game, and the commentators spoker to Cuban pretty much throughout the entire first half.

They asked him about talks with Shaq to Dallas falling through, and Cuban said "they were never too serious, me and kupchak only spoke briefly twice". they then said "so the deal fell through when they tried to involve nowitzki?" to which cuban replied "no, it never got that far, he never asked about dirk", or something to that effect. then they said something about that he still had a few days and nothing was complete yet, to which he didnt really comment.

i ask you this....and i'm no conspiracy theorist or anything, but, why would he say that about dirk and not protect his player and say that there is no way that he would trade him??? add to the fact that cuban is attending this game in Long Beach with kupchak and rudy T in the stands at the same arena.

hmmmm.....sounds like a last minute effort by Cuban, and there is no doubt that his offer is lightyears beyond the crap the heat are giving.

MY BOLD PREDICTION: SHAQ TO THE MAVERICKS.

Here's a transcript from another board:

"In an interview during the Clippers/Mavs SPL game Mark Cuban was asked what happened with their interest in Shaq.

Cuban: You would have to ask Mitch Kupchak. We only talked twice and things never went anywhere.

Michael Thompson: Well according to reports you were not willing to give up Dirk Nowitski.

Cuban: Mitch never asked for him.

Thompson: All the media out here were stating that was the hang up, that you wouldnt include him in a deal.

Cuban: I dont know where they get their rumors from but Mitch never asked for Nowitski.

Thompson: Well would you of included Nowitski if Mitch Kupchak would of asked for him to be included in the deal.

Cuban: If you can get Mitch to call me, you can find out or better than that maybe you should have Kobe call me to find out."

LOL at the last comment. This is getting embarassing for the Laker organization.

Figures.. why would they want to trade Shaq to a Western Conference team? and especially to Dallas....

Thats how I always feel about trades.

Its rare for true blue superstars to be traded in conference if my memory is correct.

Thats why trade proposals between division rivals don't make a whole lot of sense most of the time.

That's a concession to failure if I've ever seen one. I can't see Dallas getting Shaq. He took a swipe at Kupchak there (albeit a funny one) because he didn't get Shaq.

That was too funny. It sounds to me like Kupchak wants to send Shaq out of the conference and didn't really want to deal with Dallas at all.

That last line was too funny! We all know who really runs the Lakers...
