''I just think it's unfair the way they did the voting,'' the 7-1, 345-pound Los Angeles Lakers center said of the NBA's decision this season to open up the All-Star balloting to fans in foreign countries via the Internet. ''I don't like that, but promoting Yao is good for the game. He's a hot name and a hot guy, and everybody seems to like him. It's going to help pick up the international end of the game, so I'm cool with that. ?It really doesn't matter whether I start because I've done it many times before. . All I'm interested in now is winning championships."

If it doesn't matter then what the hell is he crying for?

NBA spokesman Tim Frank said he was unsure about how many votes came from China, but he pointed out that Yao also bested Shaq in the paper-ballot voting in the United States.

Now, shut the F up, Shaq. By the way, that is Tim Frank, former Director of Media Relations for...the Houston Rockets. :D

After reading that interview, I'd like to suggest that all pro athletes have to spend 2 years working in a non-union steelmill before they can play pro sports! That way they'd have an idea of what is required of the "regular worker". It's obvious that Shaq doesn't have a clue. His best statement was "I shouldn't have to spend the whole year on the job"! Whatta cry baby!!

If they make a movie about Shaq"s life, Alicia Silverstone should play Shaq!!:D

Did Shaq just b**** about the refs? If they call everything by the book he'd be the first to foul out every game with his elbows and shoulders.

"Phil Jackson is President Bush. I'm Colin Powell. When things don't go right on the battlefield, then Colin Powell has got to face the heat. The same with me. I'm the general of this team."

    That's my favorite line.

Obviously, Shaq is a student of current events.

Chinese-balloting or not, Shaq is not getting the Gatorade deal, nor the Apple deal, nor the VISA deal, nor the long list of high-profile deals waiting for Yao after the season.

"Yeah. I've passed every test they've put before me. [Former Rockets center] Hakeem [Olajuwon] demolished me once, and I came back and got him."
Ya when Dream was WAY past his prime. Face it Shaq, you had like a hundred pounds on Hakeem in 94-95 and he still took you to school.

Yeah he's only getting championship rings every year. What a dope.

The whining and crying that some of you do about Shaq is pathetic.

Why don't you do the basketball world a favor and throw your Johnny come lately ass off a bridge. Shaq didn't accept an invitation, boo hoo. Let's talk about his endorsements, yay! Moron...

Stop whining. Shaq's right, and Yao has even said it himself. Shaq and Yao are friends.

When Yao demolishes Shaq in 2 years, then we can look back to these comments and when he says "yeah, but I'm past my prime" then we can say "so was Hakeem"...

There's no problem here. Francis and Yao will be All Stars forever. If we're lucky, this will cause some turmoil between Shaq and Kobe about being a starter. Hopefully, it doesn't give him motivation to throw us out of the playoff picture.

I won't worry about Shaq's comments at this point. They just reflect poorly on him and reveal his pettiness for all to see in light of how graciously the other big man handled recent events.
