http://www.mtv.com/bands/m/mixtape_monday/080304/?_requestid=189726 "Not only does Shaq let off another dis at Skillz, but he finally hollas at his ex-Laker teammate and even calls the Pistons' Ben Wallace "spider web head." "You don't want war, well I'mma bring it/ You done messed up, man," Shaq talks over the beat for Eminem's "Say What You Say." Then he raps about the VA lyricist and the Lakers' number eight. "Even with wings you're never fly as me/ You remind me of Kobe Bryant, tryin' to be as high as me/ But you can't, even if you getting me traded/ Wherever I'm at, I'm Puffy and you're Mase, and you're still hated."" listen to the track
That dude has problems, dissing Wallace? Why? That guy outplayed Shaq in the Finals, must be denial. That Kobe stuff is just because he's already bigger than Shaq, hope he backs that up next season.
Don't know what crack you are on, but it must be good. Shaq DOMINATED Ben Wallace in the Finals. He was the only bright spot in the Laker teams. Billups abused Payton, Rasheed abused Mevdenko(sp?), and Kobe got completely shut down by Prince.
Huh? Who played defense in that series? Who rebounded? Shaq might of scored a lot, but he gave up a lot more on defense, and by not controlling the glass, Ben Wallace did both those things a lot better, that's why he outplayed him. Bright spot on offense, never mattered though, he can't beat you, Larry Brown knows that and focused on Bryant. He used that same strategy when he was the Sixers coach, back then he didn't have the best perimeter defensive player in the league, Teyshawn Prince.
Honestly, you can't say Ben outplayed Shaq if you set the same standard for them. However, it is not supposed to set the same standard for them.
ummm... seriously what crack are you on? Shaq was pretty much unstoppable. LBrown made a smart move.. he decided we cant stop Shaq anyways so why bother trying and he focused on the people he could stop.. Kobe and the rest of the Lakers. I dont think Kobe will ever achieve the things Shaq has Finals MVP, League MVP .. I think this year Kobe will realize how much of his game was dependent on Shaq. - People may think Kobe is the best SG in the league but I think he is Penny part 2. When Shaq was in Orlando he made another SG "All Star caliber" not saying Kobe is not talented but I think he is overrated and we will see evidence of it this year. J
Why? Cause he dunked on him a few times? Besides scoring what else did Shaq do? Nada, all he did was score and complain that he wasn't scoring enough. Ben Wallace did two of the most important things in basketball way better than Shaq did, he defended and he rebounded better.
Unstoppable on offense, maybe. Larry Brown even said that he can't dominate a game on offense like he used, he did add that he dominated the series against the Wolves but with his DEFENSE and REBOUNDING. I had a bet going on the Pistons winning in 6 and I was worried that Shaq would listen to Brown and my bet would back fire, good thing he didn't and he concentrated on trying to beat the Pistons with a few dunks. Penny part 2? So Bryant's career is going to be ruined by a couple hundred surgeries and an obssession with playing a position he isn't that good at?
that's the way i feel about it, too. when you get beat, you can't run smack against a player on the team who beat you. particularly one of the key players who made that happen. if you're still running smack AFTER they put the beat down on you...that's just pathetic and/or really dumb.
well that wasnt my intention.. but a poster made it seem like Wallace owned Shaq when that wasnt the case. sometimes the superior players team doesnt always win (look at Duncan / KG) but that doesnt make them less effective. J the Penny comparison I was making was pre surgery..
I didn't say he owned him, I said he outplayed him, and for the most part he did. Which surgery? The guy didn't have one surgery free season after Shaq left, and he had that obsession with the SG position, did you know that he thought he would AVERAGE 40 points if he moved to SG? Boy was he wrong, he probably got that idea after almost averaging that against the Heat in the playoffs I think the year after Shaq left.
The Pistons did exactly what the Jazz did to the Lakers in the '97 and '98 NBA Playoffs. They let Shaq score, while basically stopping every other player. So while he got the points, the Lakers still got their asses handed to them in both playoff series.
Penny isn't in Kobe's class, but come on, injuries are what did Penny in, not a position change. They wanted Penny to be more of a scorer with Shaq gone, so he was relieved of a lot of his ballhandling duties and moved to the 2. I don't think Penny was near the player Kobe is today, but Penny could've easily put up 25 ppg as an off guard, sans injury. Now you can argue that he wouldn't have been as good of a player doing so, but that's a different argument.
