Wow, didn't know he was muslim.

Isn't it interesting that 3 of the 5 top centers in NBA history are Muslim. Shaq, Kareem and Hakeem.

As a fellow muslim, I say Assalam Alakum Shaq!

He also gives props to Hakeem, saying he was the greatest center in NBA history! Good for you Shaq!

I've known he was Muslim for a while now, a lot of people doubted it though because Shaq never publicly said anything about it. Not that there is anything wrong with that, he doesn't have to explain his religious views to us. Good to hear that he's going though, Hajj did wonders for Hakeem so I hope he has a great experience too.

LOL! I would be all for it if that means he starts dominating like Kareem, Hakeem and Shaq.

    A true muslim:
    Don't drink
    don't take pork and
    fast during the fasting month

Does Shaq follow any of the above?

at the end of the day, a "true muslim" is defined by whether he testifies to the shahada. not if he commits the above-mentioned sins.

Well, if he does go to Hajj, then none of his past sins would even matter, he would just need to change his habits going forward.

AlhamduliLLAH I'm very glad to hear that he really is Muslim...i've heard rumors before, but nothing concrete...btw, sm0d, i like the sig.

being a muslim is about a relationship between you and god, not someone else who makes rules and decides what it is and what it isn't, theres many things in the bible, torah, so on that just everyday people simply make mistakes on, does that mean they don't believe or are members of the faith, no...

and on a side note, those are hardly the focal points of being a true musilm

What are the focal points then? I would say the 5 pillars of Islam.

I remember arguing with my friend that Shaq was Muslim when he was making those Taco Bell commercials with Hakeem.

I'm right, but I hate that I wasted that time arguing to no avail.

Sorry I m a free thinker and doesn't mean to insult any religious.

Does that mean If i committed any sins, kill a man, rape a woman and i performed Haj, i m free of sins and can go to heaven?

Once again I m sorry if the above statement happened to insult anyone of you and I know this does not belong to this forum!

Ask Ullah. If he doesn't answer that means he doesn't care about you.

    Serious questions deserve serious answers.

Me neither but it doesn't change my opinion of Shaq.

    Isn't Mutumbo a Muslim also?

If you are truly repenting and really feel sorry for those sins, then yes. God is the most merciful beyond our grasp of imagination.

Did God say that? Because if someone is only guessing, or we are taking a fallible mans word for it, that is a lot to gamble your life and soul with.....

I always thought he was part of 'Nation of Islam'? Guess I'm wrong. Mashallah though, he's doing something truly great.
