Shaq is an idiot. First the ying ching chang comments now this:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/basketball/nba/01/29/allstar.starters.ap/index.html

NEW YORK (AP) -- Kobe Bryant was selected to start in the NBA All-Star game, voted in by fans despite a sexual assault charge.

The Los Angeles Lakers star led Western Conference guards with 1,759,717 votes in final results released Thursday, fourth among all players.

He was picked to start in front of his hometown fans at Staples Center on Feb. 15 in the 53rd NBA All-Star game.

Bryant's teammate, Shaquille O'Neal, was beaten out for the second straight year by Houston's Yao Ming. The Chinese center edged O'Neal by less than 32,000 votes.

"That's cool," O'Neal said. "Where he's from there are 2 trillion people."

But it was O'Neal who got more electronic votes from fans around the world, while Yao had the advantage in paper ballots available in the United States and Canada.

idiot. He won the Online Ballots, but Yao won the paper ballots in the USA!

Shaq had a great season until he got hurt. His numbers are better than Yao's, but the thing is Shaq has not played a lot this season. Yao on the other hand has played every game.

Less than 32,000 votes. According to the LA Times, the Lakers, like all teams, were given 180,000 ballot to distribute at the Staples Center. They returned only 4,000 to the league -- the lowest total in the NBA.

Wow, So either Laker fans didn't care about All Stars or the Laker management hated Shaq. Of course the 3rd possible reason was that LA Times were bullsh|tting

This is what happened last year too. Despite everyone thinking all Yao's votes were from Asia, Shaq got more Internet votes.
I'm glad it happened again to show it was no fluke.

That's what i mean when i say Shaq has a bad attitude. He always tend to think above people. Media perception that Yao will get the majority of vote because of the trillions of people in China. Yea, like all of them have computer at home and have access to internet. I bet you there are way more people using computer w/ internet in America than there is in China. So when people see Yao getting voted in...they tend to use this as a scapegoat as to why he was voted in: trillions of people. But obviously the voting results disproved that as Shaq is leading Yao in the internet ballots and got beat on paper ballots.

    Here's the link:

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-lakerep29jan29,1,6740960.story?coll=la-headlines-sports

Here's that part of the article:

Allotted 180,000 All-Star ballots to be distributed during games at Staples Center and other events, the Lakers recently submitted only about 4,000 punched ballots, according to league and team sources, believed to be the least in the 29-team NBA.

Gary Payton was third among Western Conference guards behind Bryant and Houston's Steve Francis at the last tabulation. His chances to start — or participate at all — in the game might also be harmed by what appears to be limited interest by those who attend Laker games.

According to Laker officials, the organization, despite promotions, announcements and advertisements, rarely returns many ballots. Last season, for example, about 14,000 completed paper ballots were sent back to the league office and Yao edged O'Neal and started the game in Atlanta.

Team officials cited a handful of reasons for the fans' apparent lack of interest in the All-Star process.

Among them, very few fans actually receive tickets. The Lakers received 1,100 tickets to be distributed among their season-ticket holders, all of the seats in the upper bowl, at a cost of $200 per ticket. The team is holding a lottery for those tickets.

It could be debated, a team source said, that Los Angeles, already a city of movie, television and NBA stars, is not easily impressed by an All-Star event.

Also, according to an arena source, during the monthlong voting in the concourses at Staples Center, there have been instances of confusion as to whether certain ballots were collected during Laker games or Clipper games.

Eh he didn't say anything wrong. The 2 trillion part was definitely stupid, but it's Shaq. Not hearing dumb things from him is like expecting Oliver Miller to never eat at Krispy Kreme again.

    Thanks topfive.

I think we have to give credit to the Rockets organization for the t-shirts and other prize giveaways that they gave out for completing All Star ballots. I know I personally filled out 300 All Star Ballots for Yao, Steve, and Cat. Since I have a 6 game package I would pick-up 100 ballots and take them home and then bring them back completed the next game for Rockets goodies. 100 ballots only took 30 minutes to complete at home. I stacked about 30 of those suckers up at a time and used my power drill to "fill-out" the holes. ;)

Also while I was turning in one of my stacks of 100 ballots I saw this one guy with a bag that must have been 1,500 ballots that he was turning in for the Rocket's prizes.

I think Shaq's jokes are hilarious. Didn't you see that skit he did call Kazaam? Or that fake rap CD?
Oh... that was real? How sad.

Let's just pretend it wasn't a joke. When you saw the results, I bet 98% of you were thinking the exact same thing as Shaq. That Chinese vote kicked in. So it's not like he;s coming out of left field even if he were making a statement.

Has Shaq ever thought maybe the reason he doesn't get voted is cuz he's a moron.

Most would consider the statement hyperbole, but this is Shaq we are talking about, so who knows.
