Shane is great but with Brooks and no Yao, gonna have to go with Ariza cause of the height issues on this team.
Isn't the answer fairly simple? Who's the board been yelling to trade away? If you were Daryl Morey, who would you rather have 3 years down the line?
height shouldn't be your reason Batt and Trevor are the same height.. And I think Batt might be the second tallest player on our team behind Anderson Cant really Answer the questions without some stipulations.. Trevor hasn't played a game for the Rockets yet we don't know how he is going to perform for that reason alone I'm going with Batt..
You'll get more informed answers to this question a few months into the season. We know what Battier will bring, more or less. Ariza's performance is less predictable.
Ops How could I forget about Luis!! Scola is slightly taller than Batt.. Carl isnt taller than Batt though
I think it would be wise to send Battier to a team that needs a veteran to lead a good young core, good examples would be Portland or perhaps even a team like New Jersey, Philly, or Atlanta. A lot of teams would love to have Battier so I also believe the return could be worth it.
Ehh??? Actually Carl is listed at 6-9 and Shane is listed at 6-8. theres somehow this weird common misconception that Carl is undersized for PF...I think he was listed at 6-7 in college but he is really 6-9. Hmmm....... And actually T-Mac is 6-9 too. He is listed at 6-8 but that was the measurement all the way back in his draft days back when he was lyk 18 and hes surely grown a little since then. As John Hollinger pointed out...we might be the only team in the NBA with a backcourt bigger than the front court...Barry at 6-7 at PG and McGrady at 6-9 at SG...verses Chuck Hayes at 6-6 at C and Scola/Landry 6-9 at PF. \Not sure if thats a good thing or not
Younger, more athletic, already a champion, good defender, can score and will only get better. Ariza all the way.
That's the problem though. We know Battier's production is going to decline, just like it has each of the last 4-5 seasons. Ariza's production could go either way.
By the way, do you realize we have BOTH of them on our team? I mean come on, we don't have to choose one, we have both and should be happy. The only choice I see is, Who should we start. Shane or Trevor.
I love Battier as a player, human being, etc. But Id rather take Ariza because hes younger, Battier is the ultimate glue guy and you would love to have him on a team when you are competing for a ring, but we arent.
Always liked Ariza. But he has now officially achieved overrated status. Ariza will never impact a team as strongly as Battier.
