Oh my GAWD at Shane Battier. This guy used to be a top notch defender and a okay three point shooter, but now he is complete garbage. When he came in the fourth to take a turn at Kobe and just fouled him, while Kobe drained that shot wow just wow.. I couldn't stop laughing he is useless now.

to be fair, that wasn't even a foul.

but yeah, his shooting is abysmal and he gets burned a lot on defense now.

yep.. you are really setting the knee-jerk reaction-thread trend.

Yea he's been having bad games, but the coaches must see something in him to let him start AND play above 30 mpg.

btw.. i hate knee jerk reaction threads..

I told everyone his hand in the face trick that he thinks he invented doesn't work anymore. He can't shoot a 3 for life either. He doesn't deserve to be a starter.

Please join us in the 'how low can battier go' thread. I propose that this thread be merged with that one.

Yes, let everyone join us in the thread where you posted "Maxwell hit as many clutch shots as Olajuwon did". I definitely want everyone to see that....

Yeah dude, it was unwatchable, just outright GHASTLY. It was so bad, when he fouled Kobe while he drained the shot in his face, they panned the camera at Battier looking at the ground, confused. I was rolling on the floor laughing at the pain laughing..

How is he a starter? Didn't Alexander say he was one of the foundations of this team? Lulz.

The first game the Rockets missed a healthy McGrady. With his play making skills and a 14pt 3rd quarter lead I think this game would have been done. Artest is not that type of player. Artest/Battier did a decent job on Kobe. Battier had a hand in his face all night.Guy just made some amazing plays. Nothing else you can do. Take it out on the Bobcats :D

I hope Battier practices about 500 threes a day because his shots aren't even close now.

This team's play tonight really told me a lot. The Rockets are not as good as I thought they were. Not to mention how frustrating it is that throughout the entire game, rebound after rebound was given up to the Lakers for 2nd and 3rd opportunities. This team I don't think can make it past the first round now.

I really thought this team had turned the corner, but man, was it me or did the Rockets look uninspired out there? They did not look quick nor did I see a lot of hustle (esp on rebounds).

Let the Rockets play out the rest of the regular season, but I do not think this group will succeed in the playoffs. They give up too many rebounds in a game due to lack of athleticism or whatever.

They're probably going to bounce back from this game like they always do, but that really is fools gold. This team is unbelievably atrocious at collecting defensive boards on a consistent basis.

If there was one factor that stands out attributing to the Rockets loss tonight it is REBOUNDING. This has been a season long problem and I just don't see it changing unfortunately. Yao is a major culprit in this matter. He's too slow and unathletic. This team needs to rebuild.

you guys realize that ARTEST was the primary defender in the 2nd half right.. Artest made kobe angry then got burned.. Artest let his emotions kill all our momentum.. Batt did have a good shooting night i know that but his D in the 1st half was great.. Rick should have never taken batt off Kobe..

Not blaming this loss on Artest because his off the ball d was great in the 1st af.. i think he let us down in the 2nd

If only Shane had given birth to you earlier to see the 1994 Playoff game against the Suns. (Game 3).

Please do yourself a favor and get a game tape somewhere and just watch the second half.

Someone has definitely hurt your feelings tonight.
