and nobody's talking about it. S. Battier F 32:30 4-6 3-5 2-2 +14 2 8 10 7 3 1 2 1 0 13 He's been really good lately.
You're late to the party, bro. He's been getting plenty of love: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=197984
We've been going through Shane in crunch time. We start with Lowry, then Miller spells Lowry, and in crunch time its Shane. Oversimplification, but seems generally accurate of late.
Sorry for the inconvenience, your royal highness. I'll be sure to warn the proper authority next time you bring your precious time to the message board, and we'll ensure that your desired information is extracted and served to you on a golden platter.
Almost all of his stats are higher this year compared to last year. He's definitely gotten better this year. Hope he keeps it up.
We have to keep Battier. It was also said in the beginning of the season that he had lost a step - I don't think so. Wasn't he injured last year? Just like Lowry, he just needed to get his groove back. And even then, he was doing all the little things. Due to having League Pass Broadband, I have to listen to the opposing team's announcers all the time, and one thing I can tell you: They have a hell of a lot more respect and admiration for Battier than the average Clutchfan.
Battier is a bellweather for ball movement, he does well when the offense does well. No surprise he plays better with Lowry, same with Hayes.
I think that Battier and Hayes symbolize the character of this team. They are gritty, defensive mind oriented, and know their roles to a "T". They are constants, they earn pretty much everything they get. (Heck for Hayes to improve his FT % at this stage in his NBA career is amazing, and shows his professionalism) However, they continue to be the 2 most under appreciated Rockets, and included in almost every trade scenario Hayes/Battier are to the team defense = Scola/Martin are to the team offense.
Battier's defense has never been questioned, he might have lost some movement but he is just so dam smart. His offense is the key, with this team, he has to score for us to win on most nights and he has been doing that since the start of Decemeber.
Very under rated here. He is the glue that holds this team together. He does so many things that helps win games.
Everything is fine when Shane's shot is falling. But sometimes it isn't. And he is a cancer on offense when that happens. The defense can leave him in the corner and it's like playing 4 on 5.
triple doubles are overated unless you're breaching that mark atleast once in every 25 games.... Think about it. Let's just say Battier gets 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. How is this any better then 2 of those rebounds going to Scola, 1 going to Kevin Martin and 1 going to Lowry? It's nice to look at I guess, but unless it helps the team any more then it would if others players would've gotten it, then it's useless. Now on the other hand, a player that is capable of doing that 7+ times in a season is something to admire. Don't let your heart rate rise just because a few extra balls bounced his way, and just because the ball was shot and happened to go in right after he passed it. It wasn't BECAUSE of him the shot was made, just a right place, right time situat-i-oooooooooon.
I find it funny that Bullard said it really helps Shane play better when he has more days to rest between games. He's actually much worse when he has more than the standard 1 day's rest.
Luckily he shoots the 3 ball as well as players like Nowitski so that's not really that big of a problem.
