    If he thinks Steve and Cat didnt pass mich...wait until he gets a load of Sprewell

    Here's the whole article...

    http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/sports/ledger/14b581e.html

    Anderson felt a different kind of disconnection in his two seasons with Houston, where Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley dominated the ball enough to make him feel like a spare part. He needed to feel wanted again -- even if it meant sacrificing a starting job, even if there's no guarantee the touches will increase.

    "But here, I'm playing with veteran point guards," Anderson said. "Nothing against Steve and Cuttino, they're young guys. But playing with Mark (Jackson), Charlie (Ward) and Howard, they're going to pass the ball. And Jeff (Van Gundy) has been preaching to get the ball upcourt. That's something I do a good job at. A few shots here and there in transition, and you suddenly have nine or 10."

    Uhhhhh...yeahhhhhhh

    Dear Shand(vowel intentially omitted)n,

    It's not Steve's fault you had problems dribbling, finishing, hitting perimeter shots, putting the ball through the orange hoop, and displaying an overall complete incompetence to perfom the single most important aspect of the game. One can only go to the well so many times before one realizes that the WELL IS DRY, FOOL.

    But, no hard feelings of course. We wish you well.

    Warmest Personal Regards,
    HOOP-T

    Let's see...

    Francis can make the play himself;

    Francis can make the play to Cat;

    Francis can make the play to Mo;

    Francis can make the play to Hakeem;

    or Francis can make the play to Shandon.

    Cat can make the play himself;

    Cat can make the play to Francis;

    Cat can make the play to Mo;

    Cat can make the play to Hakeem;

    or Cat can make the play to Shandon.

    AND now they don't have your option, they have a real one...

    Glen Rice

    Have fun in NY mofo...

    I saw a Knicks game last week - Shandn got some of the same wide-open looks from behind the arc, from 14ft, on a gimme layup.....and managed to miss every single shot I saw him take. Even the announcers had to make lame excuses for him...."he is getting used to the new system." Give Shandn till December....by then Knicks fans will be booing him mercilessly.

    I have seen enough of him and he is going to do fine. However, he is as much to blame for his below par stay in Houston. He need to be able to drain those open shots which is what Rice, Torres, et al will do.

    I think it's interesting that Shandon talks about not getting the ball enough in Houston, and then the article goes on to portray Shandon (especially with Van Gundy's quotes) as someone who doesn't need to have the ball put in his hands. Hopefully for Shandon, his new teammates will pass it to him, but it's not like the Knicks are making it a priority that he get the shots he feels he wasn't getting in Houston. They're expecting just like we always expected that he would find his shots in the flow of the game.

    I think it's also interesting that they talk about Shandon replacing LJ. Does that mean he's going to play PF until the Knicks get more big men?

    Well, maybe they just don't pass to a guy who can't shoot.

    Unfortunately for Shandon, he won't be starting in New York.

    Oh give me a break Shandon! I'm glad we dumped you in New York, all these excuses why you couldn't produce. Say what you want about Hakeem, but when he had a problem with his role at least he stepped up an produced. But hey, if you think you're better off being stuck off the bench getting "passes" from the aging, plodding Mark Jackson, Charlie Ward, and Howard Eisley who Van Gundy said he didn't have a role for, and who would either be on the bench getting little minutes or on the trade block be my guest! The funny thing is he said that Van Gundy has been preaching transition and getting the ball up the court. Um Shandon, the reason why the Knicks have been losing is because Van Gundy is forcing a running team into a half-court game. But you have fun up in the Big Apple!

    Exactly, Shandon couldn't shoot, so no use in him getting passes.

    What is there to say s-a?

    This statement was never made in the article.

    Also, does anyone know the question Shandon was asked, or do you not care about context?

    Regardless, everything he said was true. The Rockets' never ran, and Francis and Mobley only passed to each other. But way to slam a nice guy anyway who always went about his business quietly and did his job for the Rockets.

    ...if he really wanted to do his "job", he would shoot and dribble better so good riddance imho.

    Where have you been TheFreak? This is the first post of yours I've read in forever.

    -back to the post-
    He didn't say the words NJRocket attributes to him. However, we can infer that's exactly what he meant.

    The only tragedy I see in this entire scenario is that Shandon has a delusion of grandeur. Fans would never even bash the guy if he didn't make excuses for his poor offensive output. Hell, not one of us expects him to do anything out of the flow of his game.

    I was hoping that this could be one of those cordial break ups. Sometimes there are simply chemistry problems. There's no need to throw blame here and there. It's just chemistry... and now Cuttino and Steve the "young guys" have to one up Shandon on the maturity scale by biting their tongues.

    I apologize...I didn't mean to infer that he said that...it was just the way I interpretred the comment he made

    It is very logical to infer that, but please don't add quotes. They would have changed the conotation entirely.

    I don't take offense to Shandon's comments, he never really bad-mouthed the team or city. For whatever reasons, it didn't work-out for him in Houston. Granted, you usually have to be a headcase (i.e. pippenesque) to not work-out with the Rockets system, but maybe it was just personalities. I wish him well.

    I'll second that. And I know it was more than just TheFreak who was complaining about Cat's and Francis' penchant for only passing to each other last season.

    Good post... TheFreak.... I agree with you...

    I'm not going to argue about this but Cat doesn't pass much and everyone knows it(NOT EVEN TO FRANCHISE)....

    Stevie, well, I could see times where he just kept the ball instead of Swinging the ball around to Shandon and Shandon would have swung it around to Walt but why does this matter now anyways...

    He's in NY as a backup at the 2/3... Now if he puts better numbers up there than here then what will people say???

    He'll get touches there just like he said with those PG's there...

    I'm not slamming Franchise or Cat I'm just stating what I saw during the season....
