Two things. First., I think Shandon Anderson is a very good player and I like having him on the Rockets.

Second, Judge Eckels Office really does not like it when you call to voice your disapproval, even when it is polite. They would much prefer that you mail your complaints via US Mail, or fax if you have one or live near a kinkos or a hardware store.

So seriously, even though (713)755-4000 is the phone number, the office do not want to hear about on the phone. It is much more convenient, you know, getting letters, because listening to polite, courteous but firm and disapproving registered voters is just not thier idea of a productive day. Especially when the judge is on vacation - they have to work twice as hard.

Really, please consider sending a postcard, maybe one of the Houston skyline or the rodeo or a bluebonnet patch rather than calling (713)755-4000, which is the phone number, to voice disapproval.

Damn, where'd I put that address. I'll get it to you in my next basketball related post.

    Hoop-T,

Great idea. Maybe instead of each of us sending an email to Eckels office, we should each order them a pizza. [IMG] We can call it the pizza campaign. [IMG]

Last time I checked, that phone was paid for by taxpayers. Maybe I'm mistaken.

    Interesting point, Jeff.

But come on, man - dont get your shorts in a bunch. Even though calling 713 755 4000 every day for the next week - and totally disrupting the day at the office with polite, inteliigent phone calls from PO'd Rocket fans to the point that when Eck calls to get his messages from vacation and his whole staff goes "UGGGGH The stadium thing is killlllling us" - would be a pretty stellar use of our civil rights as voters, i would have to agree with their recommendation that we stick to postcards. The "Space City USA" ones with three pics of a Space Shuttle, and the "Houston - It's Hot!" series are available 3 for 99 cents at Walgreens, a stamp is only 33 cents or whatever the price is now.

The phone - while free for us to call - costs them precious moments and aggravation.

Its easier for them if we lay off the whole 713 755 4000 number, so please, think of Eck and his staff. They work so hard for all of us, and its not like we pay their salaries. Oh, wait, yeah we do. Still, come on, they are not prepared for a deluge of protest. Just give it time and you'll forget about it. Let them work in peace. It's just a sport, right?

    C - 713 - B - 755 - F - 4000 - C

CBrown -- I think Jeff was saying it's our right to call since we paid for the phone... [IMG]

You got it Clutch. Though I am a little worried that people will be afraid to respond to my cutting-edge take on Shandon in that forum, though.

They sent me to "Steven Cooney's" voicemail. It says on his message that every time someone leaves a message he gets paged so he can call you back immediatly....interesting.

I just checked out the Judge's website. My question is what kind of pompous jerk feels it's necessary to put their picture on every stinking page? (Not even Bill does that and he's the freaking President.) eckels brags about Harris County being larger than a bunch of states but then torpedoes an arena deal that would keep the Rockets and Comets? Come on! Maybe we should take up a collection and see if we can offer more money than the hockey goons. I'm in for five bucks.

Note to the police: I intentionally did not capitalize a proper name in this post because if a guy diminishes his city, county, sports teams and all those who have some connection to the above, he deserves to be diminished as well.
