    Knicks Waive Anderson

New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that forward Shandon Anderson has been waived by the team.

Anderson, 6-6, 210-pounds, played 20 minutes in one game this season. The eight-year NBA veteran was originally acquired from Houston in a three-team deal on Aug. 10, 2001.

The active roster is now at 11, with three on the Injured List.

Well, this along with TMac's injury, opens the door for him to come to Houston. Miami is also interested. I also read somewhere that they did this to make a roster spot to sign Eddie Robinson. Funny thing is, during the negotiations between the Bulls and Knicks for the Crawford trade, both guys were on the table to be swapped also and Isiah turned it down.

He would be an OK addition to our team if we could sign him for cheap, the Knicks must have eaten his giant contract...ouch!

Haha! Poor Isaiah... he couldn't trade him, or just not pay him. How he dealt with him was a disgrace (threatening to kick his ass if he ever saw Shandon in public? Not cool.)

Isaiah is the worst general manager in the league right now, and the Knicks are in trouble. Their payroll is set to increase next year, and there is no prospect of them being good any time soon, esp. because Isaiah forked over all of his draft picks. Knick fans are defending him because he has stockpiled expiring contracts, but if the team has the highest payroll in the league, and still sucks, then won't the ownership just let them expire instead of acquiring another Tim Thomas? The luxury tax is going to kill them, and their stuck with their mediocre cast (weak frontcourt players coupled with backcourt players with no defensive ability or basketball saavy) for some time.

Anderson's still good, but he has to be part of a motion offense to be effective. He made his career off of weak-side cuts (off a screen) and his defense. I strongly doubt he'd be any more effective in JVG's offense than Rudy's. He'd be an upgrade defensively, though.

His best fits would probably be Charlotte, Sacramento, or New Orleans. All those teams have a need at his position.
