Well, not quite. His open J just now did draw just a touch of the outside of the front rim, sparing him a total airball. Then the Wizards take the ball the other way, and "Jordan over Anderson ... bingo!" I'm regretting his departure less and less.
Hehehehe! I was about to post this at half-time but you beat me too it, Will. That was a wide open three Shandn missed, and Jordan is making him his b**** on the other end... can't say i regret letting the guy go either!
Not having seen any Rockets games last year (missed the one Rockets Nat. game, too ), I can see why you don't really mind letting him go
did anyone notice that his shooting form has changed for the worse..if thats possible. it just look like he was trying to push the ball into the rim for all his jumpshots.. wasnt a pretty sight
He also completely blew a pass to an open Sprewell on a 2 on 1 fast break. He led the pass way in front of Spree. Spree was not happy. Oh well......I am sure Shandon was nervous as this was his opener with NY, and MJ was on the floor. He may have been having flashbacks to the 1998 finals when he had to guard MJ a lot, and didn't fare too well.
Othella played well. 9pts 12 rebounds. Pretty good! Shandn 0-5. Nice. The Knicks fans deserve better even though they got the win.
Let's see, Rice & Walt were a combined 3 for 14, and they actually get paid to throw up those bricks. And we all know what kind of defense those two play. I'm never "happy" to see a class guy leave the team.
Great post Freak. On the other hand, maybe we should bash Shandon as well, so we can be like the "cool" guys in this thread
Matt Maloney, Brent Price and Bryce Drew are class guys, why aren't you guys defending them? Matt Maloney actually was a more important cog for this team then Shandon at one point. I'm not saying go pound Shandon, but I'm curious why there are a segment of people defending Shandon, but they're not defending Matt Maloney who was a key part of us getting to the Western Conference Finals, and who is also a class guy.
For the little time I've been on this board it seems that Bob* and Freak like to always argue the other point regardless of what the "masses" think. Of course there will always be people that like some player regardless of their on court performance and try to rationalize his usefullness by mentioning something as meaningless/irrelevant as his "class". I don't understand this class arguement. These guys are suppose to be classy...they are pros. Now if they were cancers then that would be bad, but being classy is expected of them. Shandon was not a good player for our system and so far not in the Knicks system either. So why would a player like shandon EXPECT to get 6-7 mill a year for his play? Because he is classy? I think thats what causes many people to bash and I don't blame them.
F.uck class. i'm all about victories and doing what i takes to improve your game and help your team out. shandn andersn never did improve his offensive game for the rockets - and that is PRECISELY what the rockets needed him to do. you wanna talk class... class is usually associated with doing what is best for your team. hmm, how about developing a "respectable" jumper? how about developing "respectable" handles? how about developing "respectable" post moves? nope. he did none of these, yet you call him class. if you want to call him class for being a nice guy and feel we should lay off of him because of that, then you're not a true basketball fan, sorry. i can't give you a "complete and all encompassing definition" of a true basketball fan, however, i can guarantee you that this is part of it: working on yourself for the benefit of the team. BobFinn*, RocketsPimp, TheFreak, et al, show me what shandn improved on for the benefit of the team. show me how complaining that he isn't part of the offense enough benefitted the team. show me how not hitting open jumpers benefitted the team. show me how playing overrated defense benefitted the team. show me how not being able to create off the dribble - at the 2 and the 3 spots, respectively, benefitted the team. class. pffft.
I'm still a Shandon fan. He wasn't a great threat, but he kept his fg% relatively decent, and with the exception of last year, was at least a credible threat from behind the arch. I will admit: if 27% is going to be his future 3pt %, the Rockets made a good decision in trading him. But I don't believe he's that bad of a shooter. Shandon was a good 6-8th rotation player, and I'll miss him.
