That's right you knuckleheads....the ClutchFans universe will be in full swirl this Thursday June 1st. The moon and the stars will be in complete alignment, and I predict that an unusually large number of people will be getting severely intoxicated. Why, do you ask? Carl Hayn and the Holdouts, the Texas-alt country-rock band I play lead guitar in, will be performing live this Thursday June 1st at the world-famous Live Sports Cafe, owned and operated by a member of this BBS...our very own beloved Khalil. We will start cranking the tunes at 7PM, and we will play until the cows come home. Khalil will be running some kickass specials to keep the party rocking! We will have CDs and T-Shirts for sale as well! Just in case you haven't been there, and shame on you if you haven't, Live Sports Cafe is located in downtown Houston at the intersection of Main and Preston. Live Sports Cafe Website So, BBS comrades, c'mon out this Thursday June 1st at 7PM to Live Sports Cafe, knock back some wings and a few buckets of brew, and kickoff the weekend with a rockin' good time!!! Hope to see you there!!
Well, I for one find it absolutely reprehensible that someone would use this bbs for something as self serving as pimping an upcoming gig and trying to make sure everyone here knows about it! I thought you were better than that, RMTex!
One thing learned by everyone who hangs out with me for any extended length of time is that....I have absolutely no shame whatsoever!!!
Coolness...we will be rockin', rain or shine, Astros game or no Astros game. I need to get rid of my hangover so I can do it all over again tonight!
But you do have talent! Hayn's pretty cool. The original tunes are good, and what's the name of that George Jones tune he does? I'm having a mental block on that, but it's a great cover of that song.
Thank you Sir! The name of the George Jones song is "She Thinks I Still Care", a #1 hit for him in the early 1960s. We do it like country punks on a crystal meth binge! We will be doing quite a few covers tonight....that one, a couple of Springsteen songs, a very obscure John Cougar Mellencamp song, a Delbert McClinton song, a Billy Joe Shaver song....all sorts of shiznit!
Looking forward to it. Im at my other job and i will try to make it out for the show. Sucks i wanted to be there but some unforseen things came up and i couldn't expect it. As far as specials goes....all Domestic bottles are $2 bucks all night....so get out there and have some fun....im hoping we can make this a nice regular thing and have RMT's band there regularly so if you miss him once you'll see him again later......
If I lived in Houston I would be happy to attend but jumping on the shameless self promotion bandwagon The Serfs (not your father's Irish Band) will be playing at St. Paul's Grand Old Days, the 20 block long street festival in St. Paul, this Sunday. Of course if Khalil or any tavern owners in Houston would like to experience the awesome whiskey soaked irreverence that is The Serfs we would be more than happy to come down and play. www.myspace.com/mnserfs
Just wanted to say that I enjoyed the show. Hayn's a good songwriter and the y'all played some cool covers. Among the covers, I especially liked Georgia on A Fast Train, Shaky Ground, and of course, She Still Thinks I Care. I don't want to short-change his original somgs because I liked every song I heard before I left and right now I'm listening to his Concrete Dreams album .
Hey gwayneco....thanks for coming out last night. We appreciate your support. Yes, we've been playing some interesting covers lately, but Carl still won't let me play my heavy metal version of The Monkee's "I'm a Believer" yet, dammit!
^ Yeah RMT I can sympathize with artistic differences like that in a band. Two of us want to do "Finnegan's Wake" set to Led Zeppelin and the other two in the band want nothing to do with it.
Lighten up now....it was a joke....check that - it was a feeble attempt at a joke. But I really can play the hell out of "I'm a Believer".
