    W00t! After 3 years of wanting a dog, my 30 year old half-sister finally moved out and we're freed up for a dog! She's a year old German Shepherd/retriever mix. Great success! :)

    Yeah, I never knew mixed breeds could be so neat. I was dead set on getting a Smooth Coat Jack Russell Terrier and then I discovered those were available via breeders at $300-500 a pop and IF you can get them in "season" or... just by sheer random luck that a pet store has a pure breed of some kind.

    For what it's worth she's used both forms of the restroom in our house so far and I've been the lucky one to clean them up, lol.

    That's SO cute!

    I plan to have a dog and kids in the same house in the future...how do you know that your dog won't turn on you or your kids? i've heard horror stories about dogs biting children. I have a dog, well I guess he's more my dad's dog now and he hasn't ever bit any one of us ever since we got him as a puppy 10 years ago. I guess it's how you "raise" the dog? I've heard if you're too aggressive with your dog then your dog will think it's ok to be aggressive with people.
