Mepmphis have just traded Gasol to the Lakers for expiring contract of Kwame Brown, Criettenton and draft picks, and clearly cutting the cost and getting younger. Our protected Ist rounder(s) in 08 and 10 plus Head/Hayes/James for Mike Miller and Navarro seems reasonable. It will give Memphis some good young players and draft picks and save Memphis some money down the road. We get instantaneous help and upgrade at 2/3. Thoughts---

Mike Miller would make T-macs shots look like a Chuck Hayes free throw.

Please enquire into expirings for either/both + #1s ('09 and '11, to 'complement' Laker picks?).

The Lakers just got Gasol for Kwame....FRACK !

Man, you have to take advantage of teams going through a fire sale like that.

And did you see that Aaron McKie is going to get a new deal just to make the numbers match?

I mean he is semi retired and gets a new contract....FREE MONEY...woohooo.

Seriously, rational rules don't apply here; we have to assume the Memphis GM is really, really dumb, considering the amounts of dumb trades he's made over the last few hours.

Junk for Mike Miller please! It'd be unacceptable if we actually traded a good player for MM, considering how drugged up the Memphis GM seems to be XD.

They're not going to take Hayes back. Besides the fact that he's a PG, he has another 2 years on his contract.

Bonzi and Snyder both have sizeable enough contracts to help, and they both come off the books this year.

Bonzi, Snyder, Head or Hayes (they may want Hayes now for frontcourt depth), Francis for Miller.

They're certainly very questionable trades, but he's clearly doing a salary dump and get draft picks and/or young players.

We do happen to have players that are on expiring contracts, and draft picks.

This is what bugs me when people laugh at some trade proposals.....so often good players get traded for nothing.

Dallas does it all the time, and now the Lakers.....

I hope Morey can get in on some of the action.

They won't take James, they are looking to unload salary. It's easier to sell the franchise that way.

Do it, do it, do it. A great, proven shooter who's not one-dimensional. And I'd personally love to see a Florida Gator on the Rockets. But I have no idea about salaries and whatnot.

Not extremely relevant, but I mentioned it last time Mike Miller was brought up on the board. Miller and Tmac are really good friends. I'm sure Tmac would welcome this trade w/ open arms, and even possibly push him to take it up a notch.

Yeah, but that's not something you can really plan for. Sometimes the other team just has a brain fart.

That said, I think we should see if the Rockets can get Kidd in exchange for Morey's car. He probably has a decent set of wheels.

It may be a different story since the Grizzlies actually pulled the trigger now, but I don't think Memphis needing to unload salary is news to the Rockets since Morey said just that the other day.

Miller is currently shooting near 51% from the field and over 43% from long range.... career 46 and 40. He's about to turn 28.

Grizzlies probably aren't interested in another 3 or 4 players, even if they are all expiring (unless they're passing out buyouts like candy).

    Let me ask you this:

Would you do a Shane Battier/Kirk Snyder for Mike Miller trade?

Memphis loved Battier, and would probably welcome him back with open arms. Kirk Snyder is a expiring contract. So if the let Snyder go and just keep Shane it still saves them 1/3 of Mike Millers salary.
