Shaking hands with your closest friends = awkward?

I'm not sure how strange of a question this is (that's why I made the thread), but I have to ask...

Do you find it awkward to shake hands with your closest friends? For example, if you meet up at the movies with a bunch of your closest friends, do you all shake hands when you walk up to each other?

Not a business/formal handshake...I'm talking about this kind...

I admit, this is a very common practice that I never really think twice about unless it's with my closest circle of friends, the majority of which have known each other for a decade or so. For one reason or another, we just don't do it. When we noticed that we didn't do it, we tested it out and it felt so damn wrong...so forced...so awkward. But again, it's not big deal for us to shake hands with people outside our group of friends.

Are we the only ones that are like this? I must know! :D

Not awkward at all. I find it awkward that anyone would find that awkward. I also find the word awkward to be very awkward.

No, but we do the hippie handshake... you know, the handclasp. Usually followed with the hug. Sometimes, just the hug.

A nice, stiff crotch grab is usually appropriate...

The poll should reflect your presence...but it does not.

I hear your (future) wife's daughter has one mean handshake.

I think you and your friends are closet homos....not that there's anything wrong with that.

Some of my friends I'm very comfortable with the handshake and/or half-man hug. Others, it's just awkward.

I find that, if I've done it in the past, it's cool. If not, I just don't.

No touching for me. It's really not necessary.

Yes it very awkward for me. I thought I was the only person who thought about it or felt that way. The only time I will shake hands with my closest friends is if I have not seen them in a very long time.

Generally I will shake hands with someone if I see them in a public social setting. But if I show up at a friends house, and there are other friends sitting around watching tv or something, I don't. I think it is proper to shake someone's hand if they are standing up, but not sitting down.
