jim jackson and kendall gill from miami darvin ham from milwaukee dan majerle from phoenix dell curry from toronto i'd go with jim jackson he's the most talented on the offensive end of this list of shooting guards. forget oscar and the wiz, sign one of these guys. say that oscar does really well at the world championships would you use him as bait and put him into a some kind of trade package deal for like a sixth man award material?
We need defense from that position, not more offense. Jim Jackson is a fine player but is much more offensive minded. The backup SG will not get big minutes and most bigger names would not except a small role off the bench. The ones that would are either too old or do not play as good defense as OT anyway.
Dan Majerle retired and I think Darvin Ham is more of a forward than a guard but I wouldn't mind having someone with Ham's energy.
Voshon Lenard would be an awesome backup for Cuttino. I know that the Rockets really need a defensive minded shooting guard, but at the same time, a player who can get in the game and score at will. One good thing that Voshon brings is a post up game. I don't know if he's a free agent, but Felipe Lopez could be a nice backup too. He doesn't ask for much PT, and would come cheap. He can hit a few hoops too. It looks like Oz will be the backup this season.... Cod
Dennis 2112:- Mobley as our #1 Shooting guard will play reduced time this season. It's for his good and the good of the Team(Playoffs). We need a very good backup to play abour 20mins or so.V.Lenard sound just about right! Also, hopefully Rudy has been exposed to additional talent at the World Champs.
OT put up good numbers as a starter last season during Mobely's absence, was it a fluke? If it's not why not just keep him as a backup 2.
Where did you get the idea that Voshon Lenard has a post-up game from, that's not his forte. Voshon Lenard's strength is in his ability to hit the 3 ball. He would be a decent back-up but I like Oscar Torres more, personally. I would really llke, Kendall Gill as our back up.
Oscar Torres should be the choice. He has height, althleticism, defense, offense and comes at a bargain price. However, if the Rockets look outside its own camp, then we should look to see who Chicago will cut. The Bulls are not likely to cut Hassell, but he is the first choice. Roger Mason would be the second. He may be on the block because they have so many guards.
The Wizards might have to cut Grizzard if they sign B. Russell. He's long, good ball handling skills, and plats with alot of intensity. I'd try to give someone new a chance versus going with OT.
Dr. Pepper(Heh.), Grizzard is a risk with his knee surgury. I think people have also forgotten about George Williams who the Rockets picked up late in the Summer Leagues. Maybe it was just to do a hometown kid a favor, or maybe it's because the Rockets see something. Cause I see a high-energy, freakishly athlectic backup 2 guard. Or we could give the backup minutes to Boki. He would be gaining on the job training, and (I expect) giving us good production.
Hehe...I was thinking the same thing. I know I forgot about him. If he has the skills, he be a pretty good backup 2. Don't know much about him, though. We could also have Rice at the 2......what? Ok I see the mistake. Rice is too good to be a backup.
Cat is #1 but we still need a decent role player behind him. Lenard is not a bad choice but how much does he want and how much playing time does he think he is going to get. Remember that Steve will be playing the 2 some as well.
I agree. That way the defense will never rest. Can you imagine guarding Cuttino and then having to guard Dell?!? They'll be worn out by halftime.
Majerle...haha I just guess we should leave things alone and maybe Oscar will become comfortable in his role.
Let yao ming play as backup sg.... so cato can get sum more playin time...... yao ming can shoot 3's over short sg....
