I know the stereotype is that this board is filled with red-blooded men so I thought it'd be interesting to post this here. I'm pretty sure the topic has been discussed already, but I thought this commentary of the attitude towards sex from today's society was very well written and thought provoking at least.

    The Virtuous Life: Chastity

*As quoted from the author in response to comments:
    1. abstaining from sexual relations (as because of religious vows)
    2. morality with respect to sexual relations

#2 makes chastity open to interpretation. A particular religion does not have ownership over the definition of chastity. Take a look at Franklin’s definition of chastity. It’s certainly different than a Christian’s definition. And there are differences between what a Buddhist and a Hindu would say, or a Jew and a Muslim. And there isn’t even agreement amongst Christians about what is chaste. Some say chastity means not kissing before you’re married, some say kissing is okay but you can’t touch each other’s parts, some say you can have oral sex but not penetrative sex.

**The author added in the comments that the "Casual Sex Disrespects Women" is intended to read "casual sex disrespects your partner" but he wrote women because the website is intended for men.

not very thought provoking to me. it is only thought provoking if you already feel the way the author does. he treats everything in a pretty one sided fashion.

and guys seldom take girls on dates anymore? damn where did this guy go to school?

blah, not agreeing or disagreeing, but as robbie stated, it isn't that thought provoking.

The only problem that I have with hook-up culture is that nobody is hooking up with me

Word...I need to go back to college...

I agree with this though line though: "The more you are in love with someone, the more fantastic sex is. The more commonplace sex becomes, the less spectacular it will be." Yes, one night stands gets your needs fullfilled, but not your spirit...But I like to cuddle...oh wait...

There's some aspects I agree to, but I feel like they've been added in an after-the-fact fashion with religion as the main assumption (despite his denials).

I also think the writer is out of touch with young people and think they're running on the most base and cynical motivations.

    Dave is right
However. . the Author uses that quote . . .well is confusing to me

Is his basic argument. . . rather than search for the BEST
you should settle for the BEST RIGHT NOW

    The argument is PRO-limited options???

Man I don't like gruel . . .but because i never had any different
    it is what i have for life . . . . SERIOUSLY . .THAT'S HIS ARGUMENT??

The sad part is, if you're forced to eat gruel for no good reason, you'll gorge like a fatty when you're at an age where no one is making the choices for you.
