    Does anyone know the details of what happened between Payne and Rick Smith?

    He referenced it on air the other day but didn't give an explanation. Apparently Smith did something really cheap that ended Payne's career with the Texans?

    Probably asked him to take a pay cut or accused him of faking an injury or something.

    It wasn't a paycut. It was something really egregious, Seth Payne said something about it being something that Rick Smith wouldn't do again to any player.

    To be clear, he had a torn ACL that forced him to retire, but I don't know what the clash with the Texans FO was. He said that Rick Smith was very unprofessional ( a common theme.)
