Not sure if there are any fans out there of ABC's "Life on Mars," but tonights episode will be the last. ABC is cancelling the show, which I am saddened by. Tonight, detective Sam Tyler will find out why he is in 1973.....and the lights out. Also, there is some sort of petition circulating the net to get ABC to reconsider its decision and order a second season of episodes. Supposedly, it has over 10,000 sigs already.... Well, just wanted to drop the 411....time for Lost!
I really liked the show, but I can't say for either version, that I really liked the explanation for why they ended up in the 70s. The best part of the show was just watching them do their police work in 1973.
I've been watching since the beginning, it was a really great series. As I was switching back and forth between this and the Rockets/Suns game I didn't catch what the "3rd thing was that needed to be done" I just saw Sam hug Gene. What was said on the phone and who was it? And Gene was his dad the whole time???
Mrm32 - What was said onthe phone to Sam was " You have 3 things to do and you've already done two. You have one more thing to do and you can go home. Are you ready to go home Sam?" At this point, Sam says he likes it in '73 and hangs up. CDAstros. Saw the original BBC version but I loved the way ABC did their adaptation. I think the cast just fit better for 1973 New York. But honestly, I ABSOLUTELY HATED THE WAY ABC ENDED THIS SHOW. The whole "Life on Mars in 2035" angle was the worst BULL**** ending Ive ever seen for a show in my Television viewing history. I understand ABC pulled the plug early, but why couldnt they follow the BBC version's ending.
Thanks for the recap. I sure wasn't a big fan of the ending either. I did get emotional though throughout the episode as I felt some sort of attachment to the characters.
