Usually I try to stay level-headed and not overreact, but my goodness I really hate this guy. **** off Llull.
One has to wonder about that conversation... Llull is obviously very happy in Madrid and is a smart dude. Things like locker room chemistry, Harden/Howard leadership, coaching.... Take for granted that all those things matter for Llull. So we'll never know if some of that influenced his final decision.
Of course, in all of this it is possible that Llull never wanted to come to the NBA and most of the information put out there about the Rockets offers and interaction was typical media drivel in that it made sense but may not have been true. Now neither the Rockets or Llull flat out denied this activity but the Rox FO is always going to be silent on matters and Llull's camp may just have been waiting for official word/offers.
I wanted him. I was really intrigued by his combination of speed and outside shot. He looked like a guy who could push the rock in the open court and also run PnRs at an effective level. The D was a ? but at his size he seemed to be quick enough to be close to average atleast. But this isn't a tough one for me to get over. He would've been an interesting add but he's unproven and now we have more options and money to play with.
Everyone wants to focus on the negative, but there's some really good news that comes from this. For one, KJ MCDANIELS IS BACK! Sure, he could get a full MLE offer (he's not eligible for more), but that is unlikely. More likely, we sign him to a two year deal at around $3 per. Second, we can use a portion of the MLE to sign Montrezl Harrell to a 3 year deal. Even after both of these, we may have just enough room to offer a guy like Sergio Rodriguez more than the minimum. We are going to be ok. We are stocked with tons of young players with big time upside.
Can't hate a guy for not wanting to leave a place where he is loved, speaks the language and has a family - just disappointed a real NBA quality talent doesn't want to challemge himself at the highest level. over to you DMorey
I agree with your perspctive on this. Too many on this board are challenging him and his decision, but if you look at it from their POV (this is for Llull and for Bosh last year) then they just are more comfortable at where they are. It's hard to uproot your life like that. Especially for Llull, as he would be leaving for another country. Real Madrid is highly respected around the world and Llull is seen as one of their best players. It's hard to leave that situation. I'm generally disappointed because the NBA game suffers in these situations, but I can't blame the guy.
Omg! What an idiot. It's either now or never Lull!! You don't want to play for championship caliber team..come on!
We got Boshed again...all these years of waiting for nothing?! He could have said something earlier... A hole!!
Only two games a week, home cooking, revered by everyone, championship camaraderie He's got a good life.
Llull is now a Super Star at home on Par popularity wise as our biggest stars. He's probably also about to get seriously paid by Real Madrid to stay put so if I was him I would probably do the same. If he comes to the US he will be considered a Euro runt and treated like a rookie by all of our players. As much as I want him here I get it.
What a loser. Royce White the 2nd. What kid grows up not wanting to be the best player in the world... U have to play in the best league and thats the nba.. Whatever #ByeFelicia!
i see too many self-centered comments in here. it's his own individual decision. how's that decision makes him a "loser" or an "a-hole"? that's going too far. plus, it's not the end of the world for us.
Exactly, it's kind of sad how some adults are bagging on a man for simply choosing which basketball team he wants to play for. Surprise, surprise! He doesn't want to leave his home country, where he's a hero, where his friends and family live, where he's on one of the elite teams in Europe, to play second or third fiddle to guys in Houston, TX, who might have a shot at a championship. It would've been nice for him to tell us earlier, but you also can't ask the guy to just make a decision on the spot.
Well that's disappointing to say the least. He's made his decision so time to move on to other plans.
Morey doesn't care if Llull comes or not! We drafted a...OH, damn ANOTHER FORWARD! In Morey they trust
