So nbadraft.net has the Rockets picking Serge Ibaka from Congo

    Serge Ibaka

    He's long with huge hops.

What do you guys think of this prospect?

He looks like a rangy small forward to me. Hard to tell when they're playing over there in Africa. Doesn't look real competitive. All in all the video I've seen of him indicates good shooter and good handle, he's skinny as a rail and long, spells small forward to me.

After watching some more footage of him, I can see the possibility of his body maturing into a 4/5. But it may take several years. He is very athletic though.

He made some nice moves in there and appears to have good timing and footwork. He needs to be about 240-250lbs before he can be a factor in the NBA.....

I've never seen this guy play. Does anyone know what kind of NBA players he would compare to at this point? And is he a SF or PF? If he's a SF, let it be known that his transition will VERY difficult. Guys with those mentalities never seem to develop into quality big men, despite having all the tools.

Tyrus Thomas started off as a PG and sprouted. It hasn't worked out for him so far; his body control is just awkward. Tim Thomas also has not gotten past the SF level. I know some of you wanted Amir Johnson as our PF. I got to watch him for the first time this year. He's got great height and is long, but is just flat out raw. His growth spurt did nothing to teach him the toughness necessary to play center in the NBA. Guys like these will always play small.

I don't know who he compares to,but he is a PF and not an SF. He is raw, very athletic, and tall. Coming from France to the NBA will be a huge adjustment problem for him IMO.

He's playing in a second division comp in Spain. If Adelman and Co. don't speak french maybe Deke can help.

The guy has some semblance of a jumpshot. And he can block shots. And he's long and athletic. I'd be ecstatic if we got him.

Seems better than Badiane :p .

Rockets should stop hope on these unknown foreign players. Okey, Dream turned out to be crazy and all that and Yao turned out to be damn good but it's not worth it, sometimes you get someone like Diop and you're like, "What? Even a swedish OG is better than that?"-feeling.
