What have you heard about the Toyota Sequoia SUV? My wife and I are looking at a 2002 model - appears very clean with 43,700 miles. do they hold up? How is the ride? Mileage? I like Toyota products and have had good luck in past. let me know what you think...
Highly rated by consumer reports for reliability and customer satifaction. My friend has one at it get barely 13 miles to the gallons so expect to spend alot of money of fuel.
"how do they hold up?" Are you kidding me?!?!? It's a Toyota for chrissake. Ive heard people who dont ever change their oil and drive 100,000 miles. One word: Dependability. Ive had my 4Runner since March of 2003 and I freaking love it. No problems (knock on wood) and have put about 41,000 miles on it as well. I swear by Toyota.
That's a lot of miles for an '02 model. I'm guessing most of it has to be hwy miles? Is there a way for you to find out?
I just bought a new Honda Pilot for the wife - smaller but better mpg and still nice. Things you have to factor in in buying a car like this one, one that is relatively new and somewhat in demand, is the cost of new verses the interest rate of used. Does the savings of buying a used, though relatively new and doesn't depreciate that much, vs buying new with any rebates and a lower apr justify the purchase of a used? Shop hard and put one dealer's price against another - I found a seller 700 miles away with the lowest price and used his price to get the somewhat locals to match (I still had to drive 100 miles to get a good deal on the car I wanted and Honda matched my 3.65%/48). Figure out what the 2 monthlies would be. If it's pretty insignificant, I'd buy new.
I just bought a new Chevy Trailblazer and I love it. I was looking at the 4Runners as well, but the Chevrolet rebates ($5,000 GM loyalty) were too much to pass up on. The 4Runner rebate was only $750. I also thought the Trailblazer rode better.
The Sequoia has an excellent resale value, so you're in good shape there. Only problem is the poor fuel economy.
