Who do we expect to be on the roster once it expands on September. Only 2 more additions from this year forward b/c Manfraud.

My picks, which may be no-brainers:
    • Marwin Gonzalez
    • Jose Urquidy
Stubbs already in with Castro out.

    Here’s the 28 man roster I expect:

    C (3): Maldonado, Castro, Stubbs
IF (6): Gurriel, Altuve, Correa, Bregman, Diaz, Jones
OF (5): Brantley, McCormick, Tucker, Meyers, Alvarez
SP (6): Greinke, McCullers, Valdez, Urquidy, L Garcia, Odorizzi
RP (8): Taylor, Raley, YGarcia, Maton, Stanek, Javier, Graveman, Pressly

IL: Baez, Emanuel, Ivey, Verlander, Scrubb, Montero
Optioned: James, Abreu, Bielak, Solomon, Paredes, Solis (IL), Whitley (IL), R Garcia, Nova, Wilson

If Castro or another position player is hurt I would expect Marwin to take his spot (with Montero or Baez moving to the 60 man to open a 40 man spot). The pecking order after him would be Garcia then Wilson, if more players got hurt they’d have to call up a guy not on the 40 man like Papierski, Pena, De Goti, or Dawson.

The pecking order for pitchers would be James, Abreu, Bielak, Solomon, and Paredes. If something insane happened where more than 5 pitchers got hurt, Dubin and Ronel Blanco would be next in line.

If we have 5 pitchers get hurt, we are screwed.

I imagine a mop up reliever pretty high on the list right now, so I would say Bielak and the 3rd catcher will be the extra players. I don't think the Astros view a 6th IF as a higher priority.

Chas will replace Jones when he returns, Urquidy will replace Luis Garcia to give him rest, and they play musical chairs with the option available end of the bullpen. Marwin becomes Diaz insurance

Depends on which 5. Taylor, Raley, Garcia, Stanek, and Odorizzi all going down would be bad, but not the end of the world. While any one of Graveman, Pressly, McCullers, or Valdez getting hurt would be devastating.

My guess is Chas and Urquidy.

Though I could see Jones being sent down for someone. I would think James would get a shot at seeing if he can get MLB hitters out if Jones is sent down. If the Astros want a LHB for the bench, Marwin may get some time.

You put Luis Garcia on IL (or option him) to reduce inning and bring back Urquidy.

    Add Marwin & Josh James.

And for the love of God, DFA Brooks Raley. Not worth a roster spot when you have a 3-batter minimum. an

Enoli and Urquidy. Who had Enoli as a call up?

Think he sticks around when Chas comes back?

Depends on if anyone gets hurt before then.

Who's healthy, on the 40-man, and not on the 28-man?
Abreu, Solomon, and Nova are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

Not sure who gets cut if they need Paps as a catcher.

Leaning James and Marwin could use another lefthanded bat off the bench.
