just met a young lady who is way to serious, and very sensitive. given the fact that it was our first time to meet, i wanted her to feel relaxed, but little jokes which aren't insulting seemed to have offended her. basically, she was very uptight and i did not enjoy our conversation at all. she is one of our clients. so, in a business situation, i understand that being appropriate and having "business manners" is very important, but if the client is so nervous and shy, how do you break the ice? is it ok to tell a joke here and there to break the ice in a business situation? or is it better just to be boring and stern?
