I have season tickets to the Texans...from time to time, for various reasons, I'm likely to sell some of those tickets. I would be happy to sell them to people here...for instance, I'm selling my three seats to the first game ever in Reliant Stadium, the exhibition game against the Dolphins. If anyone's interested, let me know... But in the event no one here or friends elsewhere are interested, I'm thinking about using EBay...anyone have any experience with this?? can anyone offer me any advice on selling like that?? i would like to make sure i actually get paid for the tickets I sell!!
Max: I can't tell you how much crap I've sold on Ebay both for personal and business related purposes. My wife and I have even sold items for other people and charged a small percentage. We've sold tickets on Ebay for my sister-in-law and she has ALWAYS gotten what she wanted and, in most instances, much more. It's a good way to sell stuff, particularly things that are in short supply like Texans tickets.
Jeff -- that's good news..thanks. But how did you get paid?? Do you actually meet the person and pass of tickets at that point?? or do you ship it to them at their expense?? i assume you only accept money orders and the like???
There are a couple of ways to do it: 1. Set up a PayPal or BidPay account (they charge you a small percentage) and they can pay you via credit card. 2. Have them send a money order or cashier's check and you send the tickets when you get the $$$. 3. Have them send a personal check and you hold the check until it clears (7 to 10 working days). 4. Meet them in person and exchange CASH. Remember to charge them for shipping as well. On the Ebay auction options, you can choose methods of payment, if you or the buyer pays for shipping and things like that.
if any of you are planning to sell your moochie bobble heads on eBay, i have an idea...we shouldn't sell them all at once, but 1 at a time instead. that way, they seem to be more "rare" and we might make $280 for it, like whoever sold that cuttino one for...
That Cuttino auction was a fraud. They had their buddies bid on it to shoot the price way up. There were half a dozen other Mobley bobbleheads going for $40 to $50 at the same time.
I figured so on that one. But two others sold for over a $100 as well. Madmax I know it its a silly question, but you woundnt want to sell the Cowboys and Texans tickets would you? I can pay a good price for those.
Well, since I'm the only member of the crew (including Clutch) who actually lives in Houston, I'd say...no.
Max, would you be interested in doing a trade, 2 Texans tickets for 2 Longhorns tickets? These tickets will be non-student (guest) but will be in the student section. If the tickets aren't the same face value, we can work something out. I'll get more details later this summer.
Rockets 03 -- no...i'm psyched about the Texans-Cowboys game. i'm definitely using my tix for that game. Smokey -- actually, I'm a Baylor grad, though I grew up a UT fan and still LOVE the Horns. I just don't make it up to Austin...doesn't mean as much to me as Texans tickets do. thanks for the offer, though Jeff -- thanks for all of your help...again!
