Many NBA stars are considered egocentric and it often reflects the way they play the ball game. But which players currently playing can be consider most unselfish, looking out for team as No.1? I would also like an opinion on who's the most selfish.

(please don't bag stevie too much...He's trying but he's a bit thick)

P.S: Sorry if this has been posted.

    unselfish: Kidd + Garnett

    selfish: iverson

    easy IMHO

kidd is one of the players that always looks to pass first and scre later.
One of the things people complain about with garnett is that he doesn't shoot enough so he isn't selfish. But it is not in the interest of the team that he passes that much. maybe with his supporting cast this year he can pass as much as he wants.

and with iverson it is even more easy. if people think francis only looks to shoot. i remember games last year where iverson missed the first 15 shots. and games where he shot 4 for 21. that is terrible. he keeps shooting even though he misses them. he had games where he missed more shots then francis ever took in a game

i think holding onto the ball too long is a sign of selfishness more than shooting too much.

The most selfish player in the NBA by a long shot is Rickey Davis

im going to defend iverson just a little bit because it was larry brown that gave him the green light to shoot, if iverson is told to pass, he can and will dish out 7+ assists. He comes accross as a selfish player but keep in mind, those are his actual instructions, notice in the olympics that he was dishing a bunch of assists and shooting a high % because he wasnt the only good player on his team.

as for selfish: antoine, ricky davis, big dog, spree,

Most unselfish player in the game = Scottie Pippen. This has been the case for quite sometime now. Wallace is pretty unselfish also.

Selfish = Iverson, Francis, Big Dog, Walker.

Why would u say that, I'm not arguing Pippen vs Jordan, I'm simply saying that he is unselfish, the epitomy of a team player, and no one can argue this.

    Team player? Really?

How was he a team player when he was blaming the lack of playoff success of the Rockets on everyone else? Same thing in Portland? How was he a team player when he sat his ass on the bench and refused to go into the game when a play was called for Kukoc instead of Pippen in 1994 with 1.8 seconds left(against New York)? Was he a team player when he demanded a trade out of Houston the way he did? Same when he wanted to leave Portland to go to LA to be with his mentor Phil Jackson? Anytime the going gets a little tough for Pippen, his true colors and lack of grit shine through. :p No one can argue this! :p

It's actually rather EASY to argue that he is NOT a team player. I am not even sure what Jordan has to do with it, or why you mentioned that name.

This leadership that Pippen brings is somewhat of a myth in my eyes. I really don't think he's shown much, outside of being a versatile player, since he left Chicago.

I am not sure if you can call Garnett one of the most unselfish players when his contract extension will handcuff his team for quite awhile.

I would say the entire Kings and Mavs... it's hard for me to single out one guy to be the most unselfish. But when you see the Kings and Mavs move the ball around like they do it's just silly.

Here's to the dream that JVG can get the Rockets in that state of mind. If only these guys could emvision the fame and attention that would come to the individual player's once they had some success in the playoffs. It would be 10x what it is now.

I would have to give the nod to Rickey Davis as well for the most selfish player in the league.

haha it's funny when people say AI is selfish.

Should he be allowing Eric Snow to do his thing more? Point is that Philly HAS NO ONE BUT AI to create a shot. Their offense would be 324983243 times worse without him, and that's saying a lot.

If I'm Philly, I want AI to be "selfish".

At the top of the selfish list would have to be Francis. He could care less about playing defense because that's not what gets him on ESPN or gets him Reebok endorsements. Fancy dribbling/passing and neat dunks is what Francis cares about.

Bingo. Look at AI on the all star team or the current olympic team. He's passing the rock alot more due to the fact that he knows he can trust a teammate to make a shot.

Kidd is unselfish.......because he can't shoot.

Iverson is selfish coz nobody else on 76ers can shoot.

Michael Finley...took a back seat to allow for the development of Nash and Nowitzki. Didn't complain when NVE started taking away from his shots. Just a great guy...
