One of my favorite Seinfeld episodes is one that they hardly ever show. It's the one with the Drake's Coffee Cakes.... My favorite line from that is when Newman asked Jerry for a piece of coffee cake and Jerry said something childish like "I don't give out pieces. You know, I got another one in my pocket...but I'm saving it fooor LATER!" I love how childish that sounded! I wish they showed that one more often!
I saw that they re-aired "the finale" today... just out of curiosity, did anybody else think that the entire episode was just completely forced, and pretty mediocre? Its almost as if even the characters themselves didn't believe in this scenario... and they've been in some pretty unbelievable predicaments. What's worse is that they actually brought L.D. back to write that episode... and as George said when he got on the private plane, "I have to say, I'm a little dissapointed."
I think it was alright, but the buildup was so much that anything less than the greatest show to ever air would've dissapointed.
Im one of the few that actually liked The Finale. "Call them up and tell them to get us the Ted Danson plane!!".
I hated the last episode because it was depressing, it was hard to see that big breasted woman hook up with Jackie instead of Jerry, it was hard to see Babu still angry at Jerry Kramer should have gotten rich from Java World Jerry and George should have gotten rich from their sitcom Elaine should have married Putty It was depressing
im not saying thats what should have happened, I'm just saying it was depressing because they always screwed themselves over I still wonder what would've happened if those things did go down
Exactly. The "Friends" friends get married, move off to the suburbs. The Mary Tyler Moore casts hugs each other. Sam Malone stayed at his bar, with the same crew. But Larry David puts the Seinfeld cast in jail. IN JAIL! I love it. It remains one of the more misunderstood works of art in our time: http://www.salon.com/ent/masterpiece/2002/01/07/seinfeld/index.html
Seinfeld wasn't like any of those shows though. Even in Cheers, you had light hearted, feel good moments sprinkled in from season to season. I can't think of a comedy that didn't have those serious moments from time to time. Seinfeld NEVER did. It was always about those 4 being a bunch of f*** ups. Mixing in a feel good moment in the final episode would have ruined the legacy of the show because it would have been totally out of character based on its history. Face it. Seinfeld might have been the most unique comedy ever. Nothing will ever come close to its style and chemistry IMO.
Nobody will ever let a show like that on the air ever again. Too dangerous. The fact that the show is a hit, and we're still slobbering over it six years later, is one of the few things that re-affirms my faith in the great unwashed (alongside the Beatles, and record-high ratings for the 1998 Finals).
one thing I really liked about the show was how each character would have their own storyline each episode and at the end each of the storylines would twine and come together in an ironic and funny way. A good example is "The Bookstore"
I'm with you. There are references to the entire series all over the place in that one. I didn't even know LD wrote it, that's new to me. I love the prosecutor- the guy from The Game- I remember him making reference to having a 'big pee party'. Keith Hernandez flying in for the trial was hilarious to me. I thought Seinfeld doing stand-up in jail was pretty funny as well.
